Why not try something New?

With all the brouhaha over the MCS board voting to surrender their charter, why not use this as an opportunity to try something completely new; school vouchers. Why don't we empower the parents that do care and bring competition back into the equation? We already have proof that it works. SCS spend $2K less than MCS per child; yet SCS have better schools. I haven't seen anyone touting the success of MCS; just complaining about SCS being better. SCS already has a problem with kids who live outside the district going to their schools. Why is that? Why not give each parent a voucher for each child. They can then use that voucher to enroll their child in the school of their choice. The schools would then have to compete for students, instead of having a monopoly. The schools would be better. They would start coming up with solutions for educating the children instead of being complacent because they know that they won’t be able to keep their job if their school doesn’t attract students.

Just a thought. . .

I turned my Bathroom into a spa last night.

Last night, NCIS LA wasn't on and I didn't want to watch football, so I took the time to pamper myself. I lit a candle in my bathroom and started with cleansing my face and then restored my ph balance with toner. I then applied BC spa Multi-Acid Resurfacing Peel. While that was working, I applied Lip Apeel to my dry lips and BC spa Pedicure Foot Spray and put on my spa socks.

After leaving the Chemical Peel on my face for 20 minutes, I then set my timer for 3 minutes and used BC spa Resurface Microderm Abrasion. I removed my Lip Apeel while rinsing my face after the Microderm Abrasion. I then re-rinsed my face with tonic and applied Cell Block-C PM to protect the new skin that the Microderm Abrasion revealed and also for an intensive moisturizer. I also applied Lip Balm ~which is the 2nd step of Lip Apeel~ and applied BC spa Pedicure Instant Pedicure Scrub and Cooling Foot Salve. My feet felt soooo soft. I then put on a fresh pair of spa socks to sleep in.

I then cuddled up in front of the fire and watched "Last of the Summer Wine" on PBS. My face felt wonderful this morning. I didn't have to take the time or money to go to a spa. I turned my Bathroom into a spa on when I had time. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Breitbart has Done It Again!

I love Andrew Breitbart. He is truly a modern day Patriot. Remember the ACORN Stings? Remember Shirley Sherrod and the USDA. The lightening rate that the administration fired her made Breitbart curious. Isn't that what the media is supposed to be? Curious? Well, he started digging and what he has found is known as Pigford. A story of true discrimination by the USDA of some black farmers that has been turned into reparations that many of the race hustlers in the black community have been dreaming of for over 40 years.

Breitbart has teamed up with an unlikely partner from HuffPo named Lee Stranahan to do video documentary of Pigford. He's been traveling around the South and this clip is from an interview in AR where one of the Pigford lawyers admits to the fraud that has been committed against the American taxpayer thru Pigford.



Here's the beginning of the story and how and why Breitbart started digging. The story traces all the way back to the primaries and presidential race of 2008 and BO. It needs to be investigated and pronto. My dh's family farmed in AR and we lived in a small farming community for several years. Believe me when I say that there is still racism there. Those black farmers that were discriminated against deserve justice, but that's not what's happening with Pigford. As usual, the Demonrats have turned this into a payoff and bribe for them to stay in power.

Let the Competition Begin!

I am a huge Sarah Palin fan. I love what she stands for. I love her record as governor of Alaska where she went toe-to-toe with Big Oil and won. I love how she cut spending even when Alaska was doing well. She returned the taxpayers money instead of spending it. ~What a novel idea!~ I love how she took on the Republican ~crooked~ establishment and cleaned Juneau up. I love how she sends the leftists into fits with a word on her hand. I think she will be a wonderful President and I hope to work on her campaign.

I'm also a Free Market Capitalist and believe that competition is good. Competition brings out the best in business and in life. These days, I'm learning more about Herman Cain. So far, from what I've read and listened to, I could get behind him for President.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a debate with Cain, Palin and maybe someone like Pence or DeMint? They would rip apart someone like Romney or some other candidate that the LSM would want to run.

Constitutional Classes for Congress?!?

How sad that this is necessary, but it's true. Most Congressmen don't know the Constitution; either that or they are willfully subverting the Founding document of this great country.

Michele Bachmann is starting Consitution classes for Congress in January. Justice Scalia will be teaching Congress about the Constitution and The Declaration of Independance. Let's hope they are good students.

spa 911 Therapeutic Pedicure

This is a great recipe for treating your feet this Christmas season.

Ingredients:
BC spa Pedicure Foot Spray
BC spa Pedicure Instant Scrub
BC spa Pedicure Cooling Foot Salve
BC Sculpt Sculpting Gel
Plastic bag and spa socks.

Directions:
  1. Spray feet with Pedicure Foot Spray.
  2. Massage feet, ankles and legs with BC spa Body Sculpting Gel.
  3. Apply the Cooling Foot Salve.
  4. Put the plastic bag on feet and follow with spa socks.
  5. Kick back, relax and pamper yourself with a wonderful BC spa Manicure; Detox and Restore Facial; or Transdermal Lip Plumping Treatment while your pedicure activates. Leave on your feet as long as possible. ~at least 20 minutes~ For more severe conditions, you might consider leaving on overnight ~just remove the plastic bag~ and continue with step 6 in the morning.

Medically, her kidneys are beyong kicking in on their own ~although we know that God can heal at any time~ We are now starting the kidney transplant process. As Targets were hanging their trees upside down,
At Lowe’s the word Christmas – was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.

Inclusive, and sensitive, Di-vers-i-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen

What the Greatest Generation Didn't Teach their Kids

As a conservative, I have been called unchristian. As a Memphian, I have seen the consequences of “replacing” the father in the home with a check from the government. That is what I call unchristian. What do you think?

Get Your Turkey Out!

Don’t forget to get your turkey out of the freezer to unthaw. ~I once worked for a woman who didn't know that you had to take your turkey out to unthaw 48 hours before cooking.~

Tips for a moist turkey:
  • Cook turkey in a cooking bag.
  • Stuff your turkey. Even if you don't like "yankee" stuffing, do it. Just feed it to your dog.
  • Cook your turky upside down. Yes, you heard me. Cook it with the breast down.

    My hubby never liked his mom's turkey. It was too dry. He loves mine.

    I'm Putting My Money on Sarah Palin!

    A friend recently posted an article on FB about Sarah Palin saying that she could beat BO in 2012 and asked if we'd vote for her. This is my reply.

    Palin has my support and I will campaign for her. Why do you think the left keeps going after her? They are scared of her. I don't understand those that think she isn't ready or qualified. She ran a city and state. Look at her record with the budget as governor of Alaska. She cut spending even with a demonrat run state legislature. She took on the corruption in the Republican Party; an example of which is Lisa Murkowski ~whose dad Palin defeated to become governor. ~ She runs a small business. She knows how to meet a payroll. She knows how government regulations strangle a business. She was the first to name the "death panels" in the hellcare bill. She understands that energy independence is a national security issue. She went toe-to-toe with oil execs in Alaska and won. She is a shining example of being pro-life. Even with the left still demonizing her and her family, she is still smiling, enjoying life and living the American dream. She believes in the greatness of America ~as founded~ and in the goodness of the American people. I can see no one else on the national stage that has her experience, love of country and fearlessness to speak the truth and go after the left.

    Another reason I support her is that the cocktail party repubs are afraid of her also. She is not an inside the beltway politician. She is fly-over America. She relates to normal Americans. As we say around here, she is good people. She is us. Isn’t that what we as “Tea Partiers” say we want? Common sense? American values? Hard work, love of God, country and family? What about her doesn’t scream that? She is a modern day patriot.

    Yes, I’m all in for Sarah Palin. She has my vote and support.

    Another commenter posted that while she was nice she didn't have "Presidential leadership qualities and intellectual abilities needed to win." To which I replied;

    Could you please explain why you think that Palin doesn't have "the presidential leadership qualities and intellectual abbilities needed to win." Is it because she doesn't have a degree from some fancy Ivy League school? That's an elitest attitude. How has that worked for us so far? She worked her way thru college. She inspires people to believe in themselves. She is exactly who we need as our next president.

    To which he replied by posting this article by Mona Charen. To which my reply was:

    I don't agree. Charen is an inside-the-beltway cocktail Repub. Look how well that turned out in 2008. Charen's main arguement is that Palin is "cheesy;" if that doesn't cry out elitism, I'm a pumpkin.

    The idea that Palin's endorsement caused the loss of the DE seat is laughable. Exit polls showed Castle wouldn't have won either. COD may have won if the cocktail repubs would have supported her ~like we conservatives are told we MUST do when our candidate loses in the primary.~

    The cocktail party repubs are just as afraid of Palin as the demonrats are. She took on the corruption in the repub party in Alaska. She's not one of them. She is one of us. She believes in limited government, strong national defense, and energy independence. She terrifies the left and coctail repubs. She doesn't cower to the LSM. President Bush was criticized because he didn't defend himself against attacks from the left/media; but now Palin can't? You can't have it both ways.

    BV's next reply was:
    BTW....An "elitist school" and "not saying anything nice about Sarah Palin" are both statements with NO basis. No one (that I know) has brought up "schooling" as an issue.....also, even this article has "nice things to say about Sarah"!! ...I do as well. She is an enthusiastic patriot and a great champion of many conservative issues. She represents a large portion of "everyday Americans" and appears very excited about her passion. BUT, again that does not mean she has the leadership qualities needed for a complex nation and its matters of state.

    The nation made a bad mistake in 2008 by not vetting and "jumping on an emotional ride".... and I believe due diligence should be given to the next before these mistakes become irreversible.

    Although I don't think all of Charen's comments are "spot-on"; but I don't think she represents any so-called "cocktail Repubs" either....that's just name-calling and labelling. I'll stick with most of her valid points though.

    You asked for my opinion as to why I think she lacks the leadership qualities.....Mona listed many of them in her opening paragraphs.
    You are certainly welcome to disagree. That's what makes this is all about.

    BV, you are right. We should be able to debate about positions and policies. Thank you for answering.

    I don’t know where you got that I said that Charen and others didn’t have anything “nice to say about Sarah Palin.” I never said that. I said that they are afraid of her. She stands for principle over party ~and not in the McCain sense. ~ I’m sorry you took offense to “cocktail party repubs;” I use the term because it is very descriptive of the inside-the-beltway pols that aren’t real conservatives and aren’t willing to take a stand for conservative principles. They enjoy the “perks” of D.C. and don’t want to make any waves that would get them dis-invited to the cocktail parties.

    I mentioned “elite schools” because that is usually what people mean when they say she isn’t intellectual enough. What exactly did you mean about her not having the “intellectual qualities” to be president? As far as her “leadership qualities,” I notice that you didn’t refute any of my facts about her record as governor of Alaska. A leader is someone that inspires and influences people to action. I would say that she definitely fits that description.

    Don't worry, TN WAHM.....I like debates...and take no offense in any of your statements really. I just think I would rather have someone with more of a "statesman/stateslady" quality with a broader knowledge of government and global issues ...with an ability to express oneself (and the issues) in a greater intellectual manner. I listen to Sarah and can not envision her on a real national or world stage, sorry.....Maybe its just me; but I know many independents agree.

    I would more opt for someone like Newt Gingrich for those qualities; but I have grave reservations on problems with his past baggage.
    Don't know as I have settled on any one candidate this early.....but I don't think we should be fooled into another grave mistake as 2008.

    For the record, I didn't vote for Obama or McCain then either.

I'd say she has an excellent grasp of the intrusions of government on We the People and communicates it extremely well. Her FB notes send the WH and the left into conniptions. She speaks so that the "average" American understands what she means. I'll take that over the lofty condescension of “intellectuals” any day.

    I’m curious; you stated you didn’t vote for BO or McCain. What was it about McCain that made you not want to vote for him? Was he not intellectual enough for you?     McCain has been around for too long.....he has changed positions on so many issues I doubt even he knows which way to turn half the time (and much too soft spoken to boot!).
    Yes, he is a true patriot (even, like myself, a former Annapolis gr...ad and former Naval officer) and we owe him alot for his service; but that doesn't earn him my vote for Pres either.
    Back to Sarah....she, too, doesn't earn my vote just because she can relate to the ave. person. Lots of people can do that. Again, doesn't mean that you can lead a complex government and be the leader of a globally influential country such as ours.
    Do yourself a favor and go to Youtube and pull up a speech by Newt Gingrich, then go to one from Sarah. You should see a difference.
    There are other good ones though, too. I like Allen West...he has great principles, but I think he has insufficient governmental experience. I prob prefer a JimDeMint/Marco Rubio ticket at this point.
    But again, we're too far away yet to see.

    To which my reply was:
    I've heard speeches by both Sarah Palin and Newt. While Newt is great on history and brilliant, I prefer Sarah Palin. Maybe I'm not intellectual enough.

    I agree with you on Jim DeMint. I think he’s a great conservative. I think West wo...uld be a great VP for Palin and president later. Rubio isn’t qualified as a NBC to be president. His parents were not citizens when he was born.

    It's interesting that we have someone who didn't vote for McCain in 2008 ~which meant he helped elect BO~ because he was wishy washy; yet he doesn't think that Sarah Palin has "presidential leadership qualities and intellectual abilities to win." Is there a candidate out there that could earn BV's vote? Actually, I think there is: Sarah Palin. The more we defend her and promote her record, the more I believe people like BV will be impressed by her.

    MUFA Oatmeal

    1 c old-fashioned oatmeal
    2 c water
    handful of raisins
    pinch of salt
    pinch of Cinnamon-Vanilla seasoning blend by Tupperware
    handful of walnuts or pecans, coarsly chopped

    In a saucepan combine all ingredients except nuts; bring to boil. Turn heat down and cook for 3 minutes.
    Meanwhile, toast nuts in a small fry pan over medium heat. No need to add oil. When oatmeal is ready, add toasted nuts, brown sugar and a little milk.

    I LOVE my Tupperware!

    It has finally cooled off here in Memphis. It actually feels like November should. Since it was cool, I decided to make MUFA Oatmeal for breakfast, so I went to my cabinet and pulled out my oatmeal that is stored in a Tupperware Super Oval Modular Mate. To my surprise, ~and horror~ I had critters flying around in it. I am so glad that it was it was in Tupperware. Otherwise, i would have been cleaning out the entired cupboard instead of just that container.

    Happy Tennessean!

    I am a happy Tennessean! As a resident of TN-8, I am pleased that we replaced Demonrat Tanner with Republican Stephen Fincher. I was afraid that Independent Donn Janes would split the conservative/republican vote and get Demonrat Herron elected, but I think there were many of his “supporters” that decided not to be purists and risk electing a Demonrat.

    I am disappointed ~but not surprised~ that Pelosi lap dog Cohen wasn’t defeated in TN-9, but he’s definitely been neutered. I knew that Charlotte Bergmann was a long shot, but I was hoping for a miracle. People who live off the taxpayers should not be able to vote themselves a raise.

    Tennessee was one of the governorships that flipped from Demonrat to Republican. I hope that Bill Haslam will do Tennessee proud.

    All in all a great night for Tennessee and the country.

    It’s a great day here in Memphis! The Memphis area is represented by 3 different Congressional districts: TN-7,8, and 9. The 7th & 8th districts run east to west in the state while the 9th district is most of Memphis.

    I am in the 8th district and our Congressman, John Tanner, is a “blue dog” Dem who saw the writing on the wall and is retiring, hence it’s an open seat. I think the Republican primary here was one of the most expensive in the country. The Republican candidate is a farmer named Stephen Fincher. The local Tea Party is supporting an Independent named Don Janes. The Demonrat in this race, Roy Herron, isn’t even identifying himself as a Demonrat. I wasn’t sure who I was going to vote for because I hadn’t heard much about the Independent candidate, but after a couple of back and forths on the Tea Party FB page a couple of weeks ago, I decided to vote for Fincher. Normally, I would support the party backed by the TP, but I also don’t want to split the conservative/Repub vote and elect a Demonrat either. Turns out, the TP claims that 5 of the 8 TP in the district were co-opted by the state Repub party to support Fincher and didn’t give their guy a chance. After the discussion about this, I decided to vote for Fincher. I’m fairly certain, he’ll win.

    The race that is really interesting to me is TN9. The majority of the district is AA. It’s considered one of the safest districts for Dems in the country. There was a big primary race in the Dems between the present Demonrat liberal, progressive, oppressive, Steve Cohen and our former mayor “King Willie” Herenton. “King Willie” is all about race. He is the ultimate race baiter and said he ran solely because Memphis needs a black congressman. He’s right, but it just isn't him. He lost to Cohen in the primary, but now Cohen faces a Conservative AA woman named Charlotte Bergmann. Cohen is an arrogant, condescending lap dog for Pelosi. He shut down his campaign headquarters ~he said he moved it to his home ~ in August. See Here He refused to debate Charlotte Bergmann, calling her a minor candidate. It’s a long shot, but I have a feeling Cohen will be singing a different tune this evening.

    The Republicans pulled out an upset in the Shelby County races in August. The Dems here are still whining about it. When Charlotte Bergmann wins tonight, it will indeed be an upset of epic proportions. I can’t wait!

    Reverse Operation Chaos!

    Last week, Rush Limbaugh called for Reverse Operation Chaos. For those Dems that were Hillary supporters to sit home on November 2, to give her the numbers she needs to challenge BO in the primary in 2012. He mentioned the Hillbuzz "Babes" as voting with their feet and putting them up on the coffee table on November 2. What Rush didn't realize is that the Hillbuzz "Babes" are already working on their own Reverse Operation Chaos. They are working independently to defeat Jan Schakowsky by distributing these Palm Cards in her district. They are also publishing "Ground Reports" from all over the country ~and the world~ to help energize those of us working for the Demonrats defeat next Tuesday.

    As conservatives, we don't want the Hillbuzz "Babes" to stay home and wait out this election. They are working harder than most Republicans to oust the Demonrats and elect conservatives to D.C. They are all in to defeat ObeyMe and all his cronies.

    Six Days and Counting!

    TN 9 is considered one of the safest districts for Dems in the country. This year, a new face is shaking it up. Charlotte Bergmann and her supporters are giving Cohen a run for his money. Cohen arrogantly, would not debate Charlotte Bergmann and thought that his biggest challenge was beating former mayor "King Willie" in the primary.

    The Republicans swept the County elections in August ~and the Dems cried foul!~ and we are motivated in this race. In the third quarter,Charlotte Bergmann has out raised Cohen from individual donors. Cohen has had to start running ads. If we can pull this off, it will be a huge upset. See here for how to help.

    Charlotte Bergmann Can Win!

    The Oppressive Leftists are running scared. They are seeing the loss of their power on November 2, and they are in meltdown mode. Here’s the latest attck on Charlotte Bergmann by the Commercial Appeal and Steve Cohen. Oppressive Leftists like Cohen and Ms. Thomas can’t comprehend the possibility that someone in the AA community can think for themselves and not be beholden to the Demoncrats. They are afraid of people like Charlotte Bergmann and Clarence Thomas because they are proof that AA can be successful without their help.

    I would like to ask the AA in TN-9 a couple of questions. Please answer honestly. How have the policies of the Demoncrats helped you? Are you better off with a check from the government or would you and your kids be better off with a dad who had a job in the family? Are you happy with your kid’s school? Or have they failed to teach them reading, writing and arithmetic? Are they safe in their MCS schools? Are you afraid when your kids play outside or do you fear that a stray bullet might hit them or that some bully or gang member will beat them up? Are you really happy in your government paid for housing or would you rather have your own house in a safe neighborhood? Would you like to choose the school that your kids attend? Are you happy with the over 13 Million black babies that have been killed by abortion? That’s more than Aids, violent crimes, heart disease, accidents and cancer combined. Are you happy with the 16.1% unemployment rate in the black community?

    These are the effects of the liberal policies of the Democrat party. Don’t you think it might be time rethink your support of Democrats like Steve Cohen.

    Meet Charlotte Bergmann. She’s living proof that an AA woman can succeed in Memphis. Even as a single mom with 3 kids, she earned her degrees from Christian Brothers University and is now a small business owner. It can be done, even here in Memphis.


    My Decision is Made

    The November election is just 8 short days away. The Demonrats are pulling out all the stops in order to save their power in D.C. Hang on to your hats girls and boys, because the next few days will be bumpy.

    I’m in the TN-8 Congressional district and I’ve been in a quandary about who to vote for; ~have no fear, I won’t be voting for the Demonrat, who isn’t identifying himself as such, ~ but the Mid South Tea Party is backing an independent candidate Don Janes instead of Republican Stephen Fincher. In the primary, I would back the candidate endorsed by the Tea Party, but in the general election I wasn’t so sure. I haven’t received any campaign literature and have only seen 2 signs for Janes. Over the weekend, I got into a discussion on the Mid South Tea Party Facebook page about it. They were going after the Republican Fincher about some questions with his campaign financing. I asked why Janes didn’t run in the primary and noted that he may get the Demonrat elected by splitting the conservative/Republican vote. I also linked to an excellent article by Hillbuzz about third party candidates only helping to elect Demonrats. MSTP replied with “Janes cannot win because YOU STILL TOW THE PARTY LINE...” and some comments about how the state republican party chose Fincher and co-opted 5 of the 8 Tea Parties in TN-8. They also stated that Fincher says he’s conservative, but do we really know?

    I’m sure Janes is a nice person. I’m fairly certain that had he run in the Republican primary, I would have supported him, because of the backing of the Mid South Tea Party; however, I’m looking at BIG picture here. The first priority is to get the Demonrats out of power in D.C. Yes, we need to get the Cocktail Party Republicans out of D.C. also, but the way to do that is in the primary like in Delaware and Alaska.

    I bet that the same people in the MSTP who are backing Janes over the Republican Fincher is upset that the moderates in the party aren’t backing Christine O'Donnell and that LeNa JaBrowski is mounting a write-in campaign because she was beaten in the primary; what they miss is that they are doing the same thing with their candidate by being purists. We have the opportunity to pick-up a seat here in TN-8. It is an open seat where the retiring CongressCritter is a Demonrat.

    The Hillbuzz boyz are former Dems that see the destruction of what their party has done and are doing everything they can to elect conservative Republicans to D.C. How can we as Republicans not do the same thing for our candidates? It’s not the time to let our egos get in the way. We’ll deal with the Cocktail Party Republicans in the next few years. We must put out the fire of the Demonrats this election cycle.

    Who's Right Now?!?

    Dems are Afraid to Say Who They Are

    I received an interesting piece of mail last week. It was a book named “God and Politics” by a congressional candidate for TN-8. I started reading it. It started out by saying that politics ~the government~ had saved his twins. When his wife was pregnant with their oldest boys, they were advised to abort at least one of them because of a condition that normally resulted in death. They found a specialist who was able to help them bring the babies to birth and then they spent 28 days in the hospital before they could come home. He went on to say that their doctor had gone to a public school and received federally funded grants to do his research that saved the boys. He had several other example of how government funded projects helped save his boys. The implication was that without the government funding, there wouldn’t have been the medical breakthroughs that saved his sons. The question I had in my mind was: How much better would our medicine be if the government was completely out of it. I believe that Free Markets and private charities do a lot better job than the government. The other thought that I had was that this candidate is currently a state legislator. There are issues that state and city governments can and should do that currently the Federal government has stuck its nose into.

    After reading a little bit more, I decided to find out what political party this candidate was from. I went to his web-site and could not find it on it. I looked at the letter that came with the book. Nope, it wasn’t there either. I had to do an internet search to find out who the candidates for TN-8 are. Guess what party this gentleman is affiliated with? If you said Democrat, you are right. I thought, how interesting. TN-8 is currently held by John Tanner, a “blue dog” democrat. He’s retiring and the democrat who is running to replace him won’t even admit that he’s a democrat.

    I can see November from my house.

    We Must Repeal Hellcare!

    We brought my daughter home from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital yesterday after being there for 16 days. It started out as a stomach bug; she then got dehydrated. We took her to the ER where her diagnosis was Colitis. Her kidneys shut down and then it developed into HUS ~ Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome~ caused by e-coli. We were in ICU for 8 days. Her kidneys have still not kicked in so we are doing dialysis on an outpatient basis. We are praying for a full recovery.

    I am terrified of what would have happened had this occurred a couple of years after the hellcare bill had been enacted. I’m not even sure that she would still be with us. The level of care and expertise that she received has been awesome. We must do everything we can to elect new congressmen and senators that will not only defund Hellcare, but repeal it.

    One such patriot is Charlotte Bergmann. She is running against Pelosi lapdog Steve Cohen in the 9th Congressional district in TN. I will be doing everything I can to help her win; because when she wins, not only will the people of Memphis win, but so will all of America.

    Easy Microwave Chicken

    You will need a Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef for this recipe.

    Chicken breast halves
    Olive oil
    Roasted garlic seasoning ~or your favorite seasoning for chicken~
    ½ pkg of frozen Pepper and Onion blend

    Brush chicken breasts with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning ~on both sides. ~ Place chicken in Deep Covered Baker. Depending on how many chicken breasts you use, you may have to layer them. Cover with frozen veggies. Cover and cook in microwave for about 8 minutes if you have 1 layer of chicken or 12 minutes if you have 2 layers of chicken.

    You will not believe that this was made in the microwave. It’s moist and delicious. It’s great on a salad or by itself. Enjoy!

    Easy Tilapia

    Easy Tilapia

    4 – 6 Tilapia filets
    Olive oil
    Garlic salt
    Lemon juice
    Parmesan cheese

    Brush tilapia filets with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt on both sides. Place in casserole, splash with lemon juice and bake in a preheated 375 deg oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and put back in oven for about 2 minutes.

    You can make this in the microwave, but you’ll need a Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef. To do this, place fillets in Deep Covered Baker, splash with lemon juice, cover and cook on high for 6 minutes; after sprinkling with parmesan cheese, cook for another minute. If you have to layer the fillets, it may take an extra couple of minutes. This recipe is perfect for doing in the summer. It is moist and tasty. My hubby can’t believe that it’s done in the microwave.

    If baking in the oven, I recommend using a stoneware piece from Pampered Chef. You won’t believe the difference

    Charlotte Wins! King Willie loses!

    Great news for Memphis today. Charlotte Bergmann wins the GOP nomination for TN-9 Congressional district. Oppressive Liberal Steve Cohen beats "King" Willie in the Democrat primary. Cohen has already dismissed Charlotte as irrelevant and misguided. He refuses to debate her. How arrogant. Can't wait to see the look on his face, when he gets beat.

    We need to reach out to AA moms and ask them how they like the failed schools for their kids and their neighborhoods being crime ridden. Tie the result of failed oppressive liberal policies to their day to day lives and Dem policies. We need to educate and engage Memphians. We can do this.

    If the African-American community here in Memphis would think for themselves and actually learn what her beliefs are instead of just voting against her because she’s not a Democrat, they might be pleasantly surprised.

    They need to ask themselves. How well has the Oppressive Liberal agenda really helped the black family?

    Oppressive Liberals

    I used the term “oppressive liberals” in a comment on a site and I was challenged to name some examples of such “oppression.” Here is my reply.

    Let’s see, I’ll start with the oppression of those on welfare here in Memphis. First is our horrendous school system. Not only are many not learning the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic, but they are also not safe. Why not give all parents the FREEDOM to choose the school that their children attend? Competition breeds excellence, but our children are stuck in a school system that has failed them.

    Next we have failed them in their neighborhoods. Where is crime the highest? Neighborhoods that our government ~us the taxpayers~ subsidizes. Are you living in one of these high crime neighborhoods? I bet not. Why not? Because you have the FREEDOM to choose elsewhere because of YOUR hard work. The oppressive policies of the left give welfare recipients just enough to keep them in poverty with no incentive to work to get out.

    Also, we try to replace the father with a check. Which do you think is better? A child with a father with a job who is taking responsibility for his family or a single mom ~most likely a teenager~ with no emotional or physical support? Men in the black community need to stand-up and take responsibility for their families instead of just being sperm donors; and young women in the black community need to be empowered to see that they are more than just sex objects.

    I don’t know about you, but that’s what I would call oppressive.

    The Perfect Storm

    There’s a perfect storm brewing in Memphis. Congressional district TN-9 is one of the safest for Dems in the country; however this year, there is more interest than usual. Steve Cohen is the 1st white congressman from TN-9 since the 70’s. He was first elected in 2006 when Harold Ford, Jr, ran for the U.S. Senate and got beat by Bob Corker. This year our illustrious former mayor “King” Willie Herenton decided to challenge Cohen in the primary. Why you ask? Because “King” Willie is a master at race politics and states that TN needs a black representative for Congress.

    I caught a Herenton supporter on the Ben Ferguson radio show a few weeks ago. Ben was asking her to name an issue that Herenton would be better than Cohen. She couldn’t; although she maintained that it had nothing to do with race. Cohen is as progressive as they get. The oppressive leftist in Washington wouldn’t get a more loyal voter in Herenton than Steve Cohen.
    While I am no fan of Steve Cohen, I am an even bigger opponent of “King” Willie. What he has done to the Memphis City Schools first as Superintendent and then as Mayor for 18 years is really sad. It’s time for him to retire to private life.

    The good news for Memphis and the USA is a lady named Charlotte Bergmann. I have long known that there are conservative blacks in Memphis and knew that the best way to beat the Dems was by calling out the true racism in Memphis politics. As Memphians, we have the opportunity to restore not only our country, but also our city to common sense solutions that lift up all of us.

    What the oppressive liberal policies have done to the black family in Memphis is heart breaking. As Christians, we are to help the widows and orphans; not make them. By trying to replace the man with a check, the government has literally raised up a generation of widows and orphans. We complain about the crime here in Memphis. What’s the root cause of it? Men not having to take responsibility for their families, kids not having a father at home. A father that truly loves them and cares for them. The most accurate indicator of whether a child will live in poverty is whether they live in a single parent home or a two parent home. We have a school system that is failing our kids. They don’t know how to read, write or add and subtract. How are we preparing them for the real world, to get a job and get out of the cycle of dependence?

    We have failed the black family. We need to take back our schools and city if for no other reason than to give real hope to the children of Memphis. We don’t do this by throwing more money at the problem. Enough has been thrown at it and it’s not working. We do it by getting back to the basics. Fathers taking responsibility, not just being sperm donors. Bringing competition into our schools by giving parents the freedom to choose the best schools for their kids by providing school vouchers. Making our neighborhoods safe. I can’t imagine what it’s like to fear for my kids while they are playing in their own yard. We must back police and help them. We can’t complain that the police don’t solve our crimes if we’re not willing to help them.

    Charlotte Bergmann
    is part of the solution. She believes in giving parents the freedom to choose the best schools for their children. She believes in the Constitutional right to bear arms. Criminals shouldn’t be the only ones with guns. She believes that every person is created in the image of God and will fight for those that can’t fight for themselves; even before birth. Without Life, there is no Liberty or Pursuit of Happiness. In addition, she sees the need to secure our borders and not give amnesty to criminal entrants. With unemployment so high in the black community, there are jobs that illegals take that could/would be done by Americans.

    Help send Charlotte Bergmann to D.C. Vote August 5, 2010 in the Republican Primary for Charlotte Bergmann. And while you're there, Vote for Mark Luttrell for Shelby Co mayor.

    “King” Willie is right. Memphis needs a black congressman; but it’s not him.

    What's For Dinner?

    Last night I cooked dinner totally in the microwave. I did Baked Chicken Supreme, Della Gourmet Rice and Broccoli cuts. I used my Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef for the chicken and my Heat ‘N Serve container from Tupperware for my rice. My rice cooker that came with my hubby when we got married 21 years ago gave up the ghost. I’ve got to decide if I want another like it or a microwave one. I usually cook with brown rice, ~which takes 45 minutes and I don’t want to tie up my microwave for that long~ so I’m thinking another electric one. It is so hot here in Memphis that I don’t use my oven during the summer. A couple of months ago, I had a Pampered Chef cooking show so I could get the Deep Covered Baker. My main reason for wanting it was to cook Pork Tenderloin in the microwave. I’d seen a recipe for cooking chicken in the microwave in the Deep Covered Baker, so I thought I’d try one of my own in it. It was awesome. My husband didn’t know that I cooked it in the microwave. It even passed his taste test. ~That’s saying a lot!~

    I’m a kitchen gadget junkie. I once had a friend call me the Bob Vila of kitchenware. I love Tupperware and Pampered Chef and the Williams-Sonoma outlet here in Memphis. If you don’t have a friend who is a consultant, go to their websites and find one. Pampered Chef’s stoneware collection is the best and since I’ve found that I can use it in the microwave, I may never use my oven again. Just kidding! Anyway, tonight I’m going to try chicken with a southwest flair. I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Baked Chicken Supreme

    1/2 cup wheat germ
    1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper
    6 boneless chicken breast halves, cut in half and skinned
    1/4 cup milk
    1 stick of butter, melted
    1/2 T crushed garlic
    squirt of lemon juice
    paprika

    Combine wheat germ, parmesan cheese, salt & pepper. Dip each chicken breast in milk and then wheat germ mixture. Arrange in a 8 X 12 baking dish. Combine melted butter, garlic and lemon juice; pour over chicken. Sprinkle with paprika. Cover with foil; bake @ 350 deg for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.

    I like to serve it with brown rice. You can't beat the butter drippings over rice.

    Microwave Version:
    Arrange chicken in Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef's stoneware collection. To get all the chicken in, layer. Pour melted butter mixture over all. Cover; cook on High in microwave for 12 minutes. Let set for at least 5 minutes before serving.

    Beach Time!

    Our family just returned from a week at Orange Beach, AL. In spite of not being able to go into the Gulf waters because of the dispersants that they’ve used, we had an awesome time. We normally go in late August or September because I’m not a big crowd person, but because of the oil spill we went earlier this year.

    The condo that we stay in is my husband’s sisters and her husband’s. It’s a two bedroom and we weren’t sure where we were going to put our youngest daughter because she’s out of her pack and play now. To the delight of our daughters, there was a bunk bed added to their bedroom. It also had a trundle bed which our youngest immediately claimed as her own.

    There were people on the beach and even in the water. The double red flags were flying which means no swimming. The immediate risk of being in the water is a red skin rash. Unfortunately, we don’t know what the long term risks will be. It is not a risk I was willing to subject my kids to. We could forgo the waves this year. What we did have was the pool and our girls took full advantage of it. In the storage closet was the usual array of floats, boogie boards, buckets, nets and shovels. My girls had a blast. Also, most of the time they were the only ones in the pool.

    We drove down on Saturday and they were getting ready for the Jimmy Buffet concert that weekend. We didn’t go, although the restaurant that we ate at Sunday night had it on the TV. It was a great event for the businesses there.

    We ate out at The Shrimp Basket on Sunday night. They have all you can eat shrimp on Sundays and Wednesdays for $9.99. Very good. We also ate out at Gulf Shores Steamer. It was excellent also. I had the stuffed fish. The customer service was great too. My hubby ordered a steak and it was not the best cut. ~The steaks we had brought with us from Costco were much better~ When our server asked how everything was; my hubby told him that he wasn’t pleased with the steak. The manager then returned with an offer to give him something else. My hubby reordered the chicken. It was excellent. We will be going back there because of their service ~and the food was great too~. I also made alfredo with fresh shrimp from Blalock's seafood market.

    One of our favorite things to do is to walk thru the boats at the marina. There wasn’t as much activity in the marina, but it’s always fun to do.

    We had beautiful weather, much better than in Memphis. It was in the low 90’s with a great breeze all but one day. It rained one or two nights, but was lovely during the day. They were busy cleaning up the beach with vehicles transporting people and equipment going by all day. There was an average of 6-8 boats out on the water doing clean-up just off the beach also. Driving over Perdido Pass Bridge was surreal as they’ve closed off the Pass with oil booms in an effort to keep the oil out of Perdido Bay.

    Originally, we looked into going to Waterville USA which is the water park there, but at $30 bucks a pop even for the kids, it was just too expensive. We did however go the The Track and drove the go carts and bumper boats. Our youngest rode on their kiddie train and airplanes. We went there Saturday morning when they had tickets buy one get one free. Our oldest daughters weren’t quite tall enough to drive the big tracks, but they rode with my hubby and me for free. They did get to drive on the rookie track though. They have the Wild Woody track which is a wooden track that is three stories high. As my daughter who rode with me said, it was like a roller coaster. It was great fun. After riding go carts, while the rest of the family had Hardees and Burger King for lunch ~the ads for the new hand breaded chicken tenders worked on my hubby, while my girls like the crown nuggets from Burger King~ I stopped by the Original Oyster House and picked up some of their Gumbo. It was delicious.

    We also checked out Lake Shelby. In all of our years coming to the AL beach, we never knew about Lake Shelby. It has a beach for swimming and cabins for rent. Very cool.

    All in all, it was a great family time. I would highly recommend a trip there; even with the oil spill. The businesses need it and it’s a great place for a family. Just enjoy your pool and listening to the waves off your balcony. Hopefully, next year we’ll be able to tackle the waves.

    Why are we sending money to Mexico?

    Arizona is fighting for their state sovereignty. I may not be good with geography; ~although I’m better than Ms. West from Milwaukee who doesn’t think that Arizona is a border state~ I do know that Arizona is a state.

    It became a state on February 14, 1912. Governor Brewer has asked for help to secure their border, which is also a border for all Americans, and what does she get? A few National Guard troops and less money than Mexico. That’s right. Part of the Obama administrations plan for National Security is to send more money to Mexico ~which if I remember correctly is a country not a state~ than to one of our states. What is up with that?

    I was right!

    A couple of months ago I was excoriated for stating my belief that B.O. is a Muslim. See Here. Well, it looks like he’s told the Egyptian foreign minister that he in fact is one.

    Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, in which President Obama told him that he was still a Muslim, the son of a Muslim father, the stepson of Muslim stepfather, that his half brothers in Kenya are Muslims, and that he was sympathetic towards the Muslim agenda.

    Why does this matter? Don’t we as Americans believe in the Freedom of Religion? The easy and obvious answer is “Yes”, we believe that individuals have the right to believe in whatever or whoever they wish. As I see it, there are two main issues here. First, BHO lied to the American people. We were assured over and over that he was a Christian. In fact, when he slipped up and admitted it in an interview with George Stephanopoulos during the campaign, Stephanopoulos corrected him.

    Those of us who believed that he was telling the truth in that interview were laughed at. I don’t see many Americans laughing now.

    The other problem that I have with B.O. being a Muslim is that as a religion, they are at war with us and want us dead. Yes, radical Islamists want the demise of western civilization. They especially want the demise of Israel. As a Christian, who believes that Israel is God’s chosen people, we have the opportunity and responsibility to stand with Israel. On a purely political level, I stand with Israel because she is a staunch ally and defender of democracy. She is the beacon of hope in the Middle East. While Muslims teach that women are property, and as such men can do anything to them, including rape and murder; Israel respects women as human beings. Muslims also kill homosexuals. While I believe that homosexuality is wrong, I don’t wish them dead. They have the right to exist just like I do. I just don’t want them forcing their lifestyle on my kids or me. My favorite blog is Hillbuzz.org which is run by a bunch of gay guys in Boystown. Their love of this country is unequaled by anyone else that I know.

    Islam isn’t just a religion; it’s a form of government. While I have no problems with people choosing the Muslim religion, to force their religion on me is a violation of my Freedom of Religion. That’s exactly what these Muslim extremists want to do. They must be defeated and Obama's agenda must be exposed.

    Following the Evidence. . .

    As I related earlier, I don't believe President Obama is a Christian. If you follow the evidence, ~as they say in CSI~ I think he's either a Muslim or atheist. Either way, he doesn't love this country and doesn't like its founding principles. The latest evidence of this is how the Army has disinvited Franklin Graham to speak at the Pentagon on the National Day of Prayer. See here.This is beyond ridiculous. This country was founded on Christian principles and now we are being governed by leftists that don’t like this country and want to destroy it.

    Franklin Graham has done more for people that live in Muslim countries than just about anyone else. Samaritans Purse He has firsthand experience with how they treat their women and their persecution and elimination of other religions. We need to quit being so worried about the few radicals that hate this country and Christianity and focus on the majority that love our Country the way it was founded. On Christian principles and limited government.

    Looking for Truth

    I want to share an experience that happened to me over the weekend. Friday, one of my friends on FB posted about Obama and the National Day of Prayer. ~It ended up not being true~ The first response was one of "Poor Obama, he can't get a break from anyone". So, I posted a link about the judge in Wisconsin that ruled that the National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional. See here There were a couple of other comments agreeing that BO was not good for the country. Saturday morning, I then commented that because of his actions, I think he’s either Muslim or atheist. I used his muslim schooling, his mentor being a communist, his years of attending Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and his teaching Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” who dedicated his book to Lucifer as my evidence. I then went and had a great day with some friends at a Pampered Chef party and my daughters. When I checked back that night to see how if there were any updates, I couldn’t find the original post, so I went to my emails to see if I could find anything. I found that after my post, another person had gone ballistic. She said that I must listen to Rush Limbaugh and got all my “facts” from him. That she had never heard such baloney and that it was not true. She then proceeded to tell us that BO has said that he was a Christian and how would I like it if someone called me a liar about my being a Christian. She said she had worked to get him elected and would do so again. She said that would rather have someone who cares in the WH rather than an idiot with an evil VP that hates black people, which is why all Republicans like us dislike him, and that she prays fervently that your “dumb, wolf shooting Sarah Palin does not get anywhere near the White House.” There were a couple more comments and then the whole post was deleted by the author.

    Well, since the personal who went off on me is not one of my friends on FB and the post was deleted so that I couldn’t respond, I sent this person the following message.

    Hi,
    I’m not sure that you will read this, but since I wasn’t able to respond to your comments earlier, I thought I’d send you a message.

    To set the record straight, yes I do listen to Rush Limbaugh, but I get my information from a variety of sources. I do a lot of research on my own.

    It is common knowledge that Obama moved with his mother and step-father to Indonesia and attended school there. In fact, those are about the only school records that are public. While going to a Muslim school doesn’t make one a Muslim any more than going to a Christian school makes one a Christian, it does explain his knowledge of the Muslim religion.

    His mother then sent him to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. In his book “Dreams of My Fathers”, he wrote of his mentor Frank who has since been identified as Frank Marshall Davis. If you look him up in Wikipedia, you’ll find his connection to the Communist Party and his relationship to Obama.

    It is also public record that a while in Chicago, Obama attended the Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years. Their pastor, Rev. Wright married Michelle and Barack. If you go to their website, you will find that they don’t hide the fact that they teach and believe Black Liberation Theology. Do a little research into that theology and I doubt you will agree that it’s traditional Christianity. Again, just because you go to a church doesn’t mean that you agree with every part of their doctrine, but I wouldn’t go to a church for 20 years that I didn’t agree with the majority of their theology. Would you?

    It is also part of his resume that he was a guest lecturer at the Chicago School of Law and a community organizer. What did he teach as a community organizer? Again, do some research and you’ll find that he taught Saul Alinsky’s “Rule for Radicals”. Look that up and you’ll find that Saul Alinsky dedicated the book to Lucifer.

    I am not making this up. Do a little research. Google Obama, Alinsky and Rules for Radicals. Go to the Trinity United Church of Christ’s website and look around. Check out Frank Marshall Davis.

    As for your accusation that the reason I don’t like President Obama is because he is black, it is simply untrue. You don’t know me at all so for you to say that I am racist is absurd. It would be like me calling you a pedophile because I don’t like the way you do your hair. If you agree with President Obama’s policies, that’s fine; let’s have a debate on policy.

    I look forward to having an honest discussion of policies with you.

    I don’t know if she’ll read it or if she’ll respond, but I sent it. ~I haven’t heard back~ My husband even said that he was glad I sent it. I didn’t go into the Sarah Palin comment, because I was just responding to what she said about my comments being false. If she does respond to me, then I’ll defend the Gov. in the same way.

    I share this as an example of how scared the leftists are and how unhinged they get when challenged. Why can’t we debate on policy and not get personal? Because all liberals have is “feel good”, not facts. We have to speak the truth in love and plant seeds of doubt. That’s my mission for 2010 and beyond.
