The Rest of the Marcus Story

Here is Rick Perry's Thanksgiving ad thanking our military.

The rest of the story comes from a cyber-friend TXMom at TheConservativeTreehouse
“Whenever a Texas soldier is killed/wounded in Iraq/Afghanistan, Governor Perry calls them on his own cell phone, and offers his condolences…then tells them to call him – on his own cell phone – if they need anything.
Are you familiar with Marcus Luttrell from “Lone Survivor” fame?
Well, Marcus was having a really tough time after he returned from Afghanistan. A trauma like that would make anyone a little off center.
So Rick and Anita took Marcus in. They gave him things to do and made sure he got to San Antonio for all his medical visits.
Rick, having also been in the military, had long talks to the wee hours with Marcus about the aftershock of Marcus losing all his team members.
After Marcus moved back home, some thug teenagers killed his dog, the rehabilitation dog (DASY…an acronym of the guys he served with/lost during the mission) Marcus was given at Walter Reed.
What happened then can be found on the internet. Basically, some crazies shot his dog and Marcus chased them through several counties until the Marshals arrested them.
What is not reported is that Marcus called Rick on his cell phone and told Rick that punks had killed his dog.
Rick sent the Texas Rangers to intercept the thugs. They are now in jail.
When Rick Perry tells you he’s a friend and will always be there for you, he means it.
Up to now, Rick and Anita have taken in even more Navy Seals who have had traumatic experiences, trying to help them like they did Marcus. To me, that says a LOT about the measure of a man.”

Rick Perry may not be the best debater, but I will be happy to vote for him over BO/BS any day of the week ~or next year.~ I also don't agree with him on everything, but again, he's got a better track record as governor of Texas than the DemonRats record.

    2012 can't come fast enough.

    Take That LSM!

The Left Stream Media tried to take out Herman Cain last week. BO/BS ~the man-child~ that they installed in 2008 can't run on his record for 2012 so they have to turn to their strategy of destroy their opposition by smears and lies. That's how BO/BS has "won" every election he's been in. Starting in 1996 when he ran for IL State Senate to 2004 when thru the Chicago media, he had GOP opponent Jack Ryan's divorce records unsealed to the fraud that he used not only in the 2008 primaries against HRC, but also in the general against McCain/Palin.

Not only did they fail to take out Herman Cain, but he has risen in the polls and has had record breaking fundraising. This "Pizza Man" is an example of the American Dream. He terrifies the left because like other black conservatives, his life is an example of how thru hard-work and education, anyone can achieve success; even without the DemonRat party.

It's going to be a bumpy ride until 2012 and beyond, but this country is worth it.

    Tax Reform vs Simplification

Herman Cain has changed the national debate with his 9-9-9 plan. We all know that the tax code is out of control. It is no longer the vehicle to fund the federal government, but a vehicle for politicians to reward supporters and influence behavior. If they want to encourage an industry or even a company, give a tax credit; if you want less of a behavior ~i.e. smoking~ tax it more. Many Americans are upset with "capitalism" because of a perversion of it called "crony capitalism"; where companies gain favor with politicians with donations. A couple of well known examples are GE and Solyndra.

With 9-9-9; it's simple. 9% Income tax; 9% National Sales tax; 9% Corporate Tax. Here Dick Morris explains the difference between the Perry plan of a flat 20% income tax and Cain's 9-9-9 plan. I'm for a flat tax either way, but I've long been a proponent of a sales tax. Morris explains why.

Also Here is Dick Morris explaining the 9-9-9 plan.

The recent attacks on Herman Cain show that the ruling class are terrified of him. One reason is because his 9-9-9 plan would take away one of politician's tools of power.

Trick or Treat: Smell My Feet

    Remember the old rhyme;

    "Trick or Treat
    Smell my Feet
Give me something good to Eat."

    Did you know?

  • That each foot produces more than a cup of perspiration every day; and a pint if you exercise.
  • The skin on your feet is more than 20 times thicker than on any other part of your body.
  • Women suffer foot problems 4 times as often as men.
  • There are about 250,000 sweat glands in our feet.
  • The average person takes 8,000 - 10,000 steps a day. That's over 250,000 miles in a lifetime; the distance between the earth and the moon.

We are on our feet almost non-stop. Our feet take a beating. How often do you treat your feet ~and yourself~ to a little sweet indulgence?

    A Conversation with a Semi-Socialist

A friend posted this on Facebook.
“OWS crowd: rape, violence, hundreds if not thousands of arrests; vandalizing property; urinating and defecating on private property; assault; anti-Semitism; desecrating the American flag; public sex; drug use; selling drugs and other lawless acts! This is the LEFT... this is what Obama supports? Is this what you liberals support? It's your crowd! I wish Andrew Breitbart was offering 100K to show racism and violence by this crowd as he offered with the Tea Party Crowd... but he would go broke fast! BTW, no one has ever been able to cash in on that 100K offer. Tea Party ... OWS... there is no comparison!”

One friend commented that he was a liberal and he thought the OWS was stupid; just angry about being screwed over by an unregulated capitalist system; that they should be shouting “I’m the 99%; REGULATE!” He also stated that the commonality with the Tea Party, in his opinion, was the anger that each had and that BO/BS was supporting the fact that they are angry, not their actions.

My reply to him was this question:
“You say that they are angry because ‘they've been screwed over by an unregulated capitalist system.’ What industry specifically do you think is unregulated? We are regulated `read; loss of freedom~ down to the toilets in our houses and the light bulbs we can buy. How exactly have they gotten screwed over?

“Also, I can't speak specifically to your situation, but my quality of life didn't go down during the Bush years. Mine started when the DemonRats took over Congress in 2007. They have added $4.463 Trillion to the national debt in 4 short years. The Senate hasn't passed a budget in over 900 days as a strategy to let BO/BS spend whatever he wants to get re-elected.

“OWS is BO/BS. He's a community organizer. This is what he does.”

This is where he stated that he was in fact a semi-socialist and that he thinks we are highly under-regulated in everything. There was some back and forth between him and other friends about communists and he also stated that communism shouldn’t be blames for the horrible things that communists have done in the past. His thought is that communism is a well-thought , but poorly executed idea.

So then I asked him this:
“You think every industry is under-regulated? You are a semi-socialist. What specifically does that mean? How much more control do you think the government needs? What makes a government bureaucrat more of an expert than you or me?”

Another liberal then joined in the conversation with:
“I am a liberal. I work hard. I have a big family and am not on government assistance. I am a business owner. I pay taxes. I am a job creator. If the OWS people are what you think solely makes up the ‘left’ you are mistaken.”

    So then I asked him:
“You state that you are a liberal. What exactly do you mean by that? CD stated that he's a liberal and then later said he was a semi-socialist.”

His reply was a quote from JFK:
“’‎..someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal', then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal'. - JFK's words not mine, but sums up how I feel.”

    So I asked him:
“So by saying that you are ‘someone who cares about the welfare of the people --their health, housing etc’ does that mean that you think that you are responsible to provide that for them or do individuals have a responsibility to provide for themselves? It sounds like you provide for you and your family. Do you expect others to do the same?”

He has yet to answer me on that point; but CD replied with examples of corporations lying about products and being tired of being “screwed” by people who are trying to make money off him.

In answer to my question about why a government bureaucrat is more of an expert than he or I, he answered with
“I'd rather be be controlled by my government instead of being controlled by corporate America. At least in theory these guys are supposed to be helping us. I see it as the lesser of two evils.”

He then talked about how he likes the theory of socialism because
“I feel distribution of wealth is a very positive thing, especially old wealth. We have to draw the line somewhere, lets at least draw it with other Americans.”

He then went into the example of how when his wife went to photography school, she had a classmate whose father paid for all his classes, bought him expensive equipment, paid for him to go to exotic locations and now he has a business where he’s in a lot of magazines and charges much more than his wife does. He doesn’t think it’s fair. His final comment I believe sums his belief up nicely. It was:
“so, essentially, you have one example of a person living their dream, and making a ton of money doing it. You have another person trying to live their dream, but fitting it in around "real life" to make ends meet, and making significantly less money, with arguably the same amount of skill, and certainly the same amount of education. The only different variable here was money, money that the first guy never earned, but was born into.

“I can't look at this situation and say "Fair" And this leaves out the millions of people who don't get to go to college or photography school, who went to a dropout factory, maybe had a drunk for a role model, and can't read, because nobody taught them.

“It isn't fair. It simply isn't fair. So yes, I feel like every one of us has the responsibility to help other people raise their family. We're all human, we are Americans, and compassion is what separates us from the animal kingdom. In theory.”

    My reply to him:

“In reading your answers it sounds like a lot of your belief that we need more government is because you are afraid. Afraid that individuals like yourself don't lack knowledge and power to make decisions for their individual lives. You think corporations are evil and that by making a profit, they somehow don't care for people. You also mentioned "in theory" a lot and "fairness". You are right. In theory, it sounds good that everyone would be the same and everyone would all work and provide for their families and there wouldn't be any poor; but as you know, the reality is that no one can guarantee any of that. The very system that you feel is evil is the system that has produced the most innovation and highest standard of living for all of its citizens in all of history. The "poor" here in America are rich compared to most of the rest of the world.

“Your belief that someone in government is better informed and knows more than you is based on what evidence? I don't know where you live, but here in Memphis, our Congressmen Steve Cohen has been in "public service" his whole adult life. He's never run a business, never met a payroll; yet I'm supposed to trust him because he's a Congressman? Why do you believe that political self-interest is better than economic self-interest?

“I agree that a lot of what we are seeing in "big corporations" these days is corrupt, but what makes them corrupt is a perverted system called "crony capitalism" It's corporations buying influence with corrupt politicians. Where is the greed there? In government or with the business? This is why we need a flat tax code that makes it "fair" for small businesses that don't have the money to buy influence in government.

“As far as your example that it's not fair that your wife didn't have the same advantage as one of her classmates. Do you have children? Don't you want to help your kids as much as possible so they can have a good life? What makes it different or wrong because of a level of income? And who decides what level of income is too much?”

We’ll see if I get an answer from either one of them.

Surprise, Surprise; Steve Cohen Supports Spending More of Our Money

True to form, CongressCritter Steve Cohen is backing BO/BS in not only spend more of the taxpayer’s money, but also his end-run around Congress.

"In an interview with Hotsheet, Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., lauded Mr. Obama for his plan and said the president was "right to give these students a way to pay these loans off quicker."

"These loans can be phenomenally expensive," he said, and argued that borrowers who get buried in debt "never get their foot out of the bucket."

"That's not a fair way to get started," he said.

First of all, why should taxpayers ~that’s you and me~ subsidize anyone that willingly takes on debt; which includes students? Why should I as a taxpayer have to bail out someone else’s poor financial decisions? What’s next; are we going to pay off these kid’s credit cards too?

Why aren’t we hearing about why college costs are so high? I submit that the main reason that college costs have risen so high is because Government has gotten into paying for it. It’s like Congress; when you are spending other people’s money, you don’t care how much it costs. Mr. Cohen is responsible for adding $4.463 to the Federal Debt since he went to D.C. Yes, that’s right. President Bush and the Republicans added $1.675 Trillion to the National Debt in 6 years and the DemonRats have added $4.463 in only 4 yrs. with no end in sight. The Senate has not passed a budget in over 900 days. They are required by the Constitution to pass a budget, yet this is another issue where the DemonRats have thumbed their noses at the Constitution.

This also highlights the broader issue of BO/BS acting more and more like a dictator. He can’t even get DemonRats in the Senate to support his latest spending plan, so he goes around Congress? Where is his Constitutional authority to do this?

2012 can’t come fast enough. We need to elect Constitutional Representatives to all levels of government; starting with local here in Memphis, at the state level, for Congress and the White House. There is an alternative to Steve Cohen; Charlotte Bergmann. Charlotte Bergmann is a Conservative both fiscal and social. Charlotte Bergmann knows the value of a dollar. She knows how economics works. She understands that what has made this country great is Constitutional limited government and individual Liberty and Free Market Capitalism. She is a real life example of that the American dream is possible, even in Memphis. Steve Cohen does not know how the private sector works. He’s been on the taxpayer dole his whole adult life. It’s time to him to retire from “public” service.

Set the DVRs; Get Ready for an Education on Solutions

From National Review On-line via The Conservative TreeHouse.
Herman Cain and Newt will debate in a "modified" Lincoln-Douglas Debate focusing on fiscal issues. It's going to take place near Houston on November 5th. This is exactly what I have wanted to happen in this primary process. Education on how and why Capitalism and Free Markets work. Education on how Conservatism and Liberty affect our everyday lives. Education on how the Founding Fathers thru the Constitution created a style of government that unleashed American ingenuity and created the most prosperous and generous nation on earth in history.

Newt is a brilliant historian and teacher. Cain is a real life entrepreneur and an example of the American dream. The debate will focus on fiscal issues and how they affect entitlements. We all know that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are broken and will/are bankrupting this country. Both Newt and Cain offer different solutions to these problems, but both of them are rooted in Conservatism and the belief that individuals know better than government. I have no doubt that they will both use this event as an opportunity to not only persuade us on why their solutions will be best but also contrast them with the disastrous policies of the oppressive leftists that have been implemented by big government DemonRats with the help of inside-the-beltway Republicans.

I believe the election of 2012 is the most important of our lifetime and just the beginning of restoring our great country to it's founding principles. In order to succeed, we need to educate ourselves and our friends and family on how and why Constitutional government is the answer to a strong economy and a strong America. This debate between Newt and Cain will be a big part of that.

Cain: Another One Hit Out of the Park w/the Gotcha Media

Love Herman Cain! Here a member of the Gotcha Media, CNN's Candy Crowley, tries to corner Herman Cain about his views on religion and his 9-9-9 plan. H/T Conservative TreeHouse.

What if Joanne Schiebel Hadn't Chosen Life?

    From the Susan B Anthony List FB page;
"In 1954, Joanne Schiebel was a young unmarried college student who discovered that she was pregnant. In the 1950s, her options were limited. She could have had an abortion – but the procedure was both dangerous and illegal. She could have gotten married, but she wasn’t ready and didn’t want to interrupt her education. Joanne opted, instead, to give birth to the baby and put him up for adoption.

And so it was that in 1955, a California couple named Paul and Clara Jobs adopted a baby boy, born out of wedlock, whom they named Steven.
    Rest in Peace, Steve Jobs.

Also from a Cyber Friend RedPill at The Conservative TreeHouse
Steve Jobs was conceived as an unplanned pregnancy in 1954.
His mother carried him to term and put him up for adoption.
Think of what the world would have missed if his mother had aborted him. While that would not have been legal in 1954, it became legal in 1973, and since that time over 50 Million babies have been aborted.

Every single day, we lose more lives to abortion than were lost to terrorists on 9/11/2001.

How many world-changers have we, as a society, aborted in the last nearly 40 years?

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that
I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

Thank You, Ms. Scheibel for choosing life. The world owes you an enormous debt of gratitude.

Herman Cain: Throw Out the Tax Code!

I love Herman Cain. Ever since I first heard him, I have supported him. He has both common sense and business sense. He is my top choice for POTUS.

He talked with Glenn Beck today about the 9-9-9 plan, the Federal Reserve, Fannie and Freddie, and the anti-capitalist "Occupy Wall Street". I have long been a proponent of a National Sales Tax instead of an Income Tax. Mr. Cain is a proponent of the Fair Tax which is essentially that. He's promoting his 9-9-9 plan as a stepping stone to get there. His 9-9-9 plan is simple. 9% Sales Tax; 9% Income Tax and 9% Corporate Tax. That's it. How wonderful would that be. I do have some reservations about adding a National Sales Tax w/o first abolishing the 16th Amendment, but his plan has a super majority to raise the tax built in.

I'm excited about the traction that Cain is getting. According to the latest CBS poll He is tied with Romney for 1st. He truly would be a great president.

    Thank You, Mr. Cohen

CongressCritter Steve Cohen posted an article on his Facebook page about the death of a local cancer surgeon. The author of the article, Dr. Scott Morris, said this about Dr. Raza; “If I had a cancer patient at the Church Health Center who needed surgery, Raza would do the surgery without a thought about whether the patient could pay his fee.” Who is Dr. Scott Morris and what is the Church Health Center? From their website:
“Dr. Scott Morris, a family practice physician and ordained United Methodist minister, founded the Church Health Center in 1987 to provide quality, affordable healthcare for working, uninsured people and their families. Thanks to a broad base of financial support from the faith community, and the volunteer help of doctors, nurses, dentists and others, the Church Health Center Clinic has grown to become the largest faith-based clinic of its type in the country. Currently, we care for over 54,000 patients of record without relying on government funding. Fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income. The average visit costs about $20.”

The Church Health Center is a great model of how private charities and not the government are more effective and should be caring for the poor. It’s not the government’s responsibility to care for the poor.

Mr. Cohen is a big proponent of Hellcare, yet he praises a man who did charity work at a clinic that Hellcare would put out of business. Thank you, Mr. Cohen for pointing out the hypocrisy of the Hellcare bill. It’s not about healthcare, it’s about power for bureaucrats in D.C. like yourself. You have no private sector business experience, yet you purport to know more about running one than those that have. You aren’t a man of the people, you are an elitist.

The virtually airtight seal eliminates staleness, keeps contents safe from insects, prevents waste, saves space and keeps cabinets tidier than boxes. Special flip-open spout allows for easy, no-mess pouring!

Just go to Tupperware: Click on Shop Product Gallery: On Sale. Sale ends Friday, September 30, 2011. So you must shop today to get this good deal.

Also ending today is Modular Mates Super Oval 4 Set and Mickey Mouse One Touch Canisters. Don't miss out.

    Keep Bugs IN and OUT.

Earlier this week, I experienced one of the many benefits of having grains sealed in Tupperware Modular Mates and Super Cereal Storers. I had those grain bugs in my cabinet where I store my cereals, pastas and rice. I found bugs in my rice. Thankfully, since they were in a Super Oval Modular Mate by Tupperware, they were contained in the rice; however, I did have some pasta that was stored in the manufacturer's box that infested my cabinet. Fortunately, because my cereals, crackers and coffee beans were sealed in Tupperware Modular Mates, I didn't have to throw them all out.

Right now, Tupperware has the Modular Mates Super Oval 4 Set on sale. It's a great time to start your set. You get 2 MM Super Oval 4's for $21.50 which is a savings of $14.50. I easily saved that much this week with my bugs.

Just go to Tupperware and click on Shop Our Product Gallery: Storage to see all of the Modular Mates Storage System. Trust me, it's worth it.

    Happy 224th Birthday Constitution!

Today is the 224th Birthday of the U.S. Constitution. It is under attack more than ever. It's more important than ever that American citizens know this amazing document. It is the foundation for our form of government and our Freedom.

Today would be a great day to read the Constitution. How do you know if the federal government is overstepping it's bounds if we don't know what it contains.

I'm celebrating today by watching the opening speeches of the online course Introduction to the Constitution by Hillsdale College ~A Constitution Day Celebration~. In the next few weeks, I will continue the web series. It's not too late to sign up for it.

    Happy Birthday Constitution!

    Gotta Love Newt!

Newt is an example of why I want lots of candidates for the Republican nomination. Competition is a good thing. I want candidates to spell out their ideas and convince us, the voters, about why their ideas will be best for America. Each candidate brings good and bad to the table. Newt is a brilliant historian and legislator. I don't agree with him on everything, but what he brings to the conversation is important.

Last night during the Republican debate, Newt was awesome. He took it right to the left stream media and called them out on their mission to protect BO/BS by getting Republicans to fight among themselves.

He also stated that if BO/BS really cared about Americans and jobs, he'd walk into his campaign ~I mean jobs/Joint Session~ speech tonight and ask for the repeal of Hellcare.

He did the same to Chris Wallace during the Iowa Fox Debate; excoriated him for his gotcha questions.

Newt also shined in the Palmetto Freedom Forum. H/T Gingrichforpres.

    Here's Newt on American Exceptionalism.

"Power comes from directly from God to each one of you. You are personally sovereign. So you are always a citizen, never a subject."

    Here's Newt on Immigration.

We want to be a melting pot, We want you to come to America to be American. "English should be the official language of government."

    Here's Newt on Judicial Tyranny.

"There's a formal way to amend the Constitution. It's a very complicated process." The idea that "by a 5-4 vote, appointed lawyers can be the equivalent of a a Constitutional Convention is an absurdity."

"The Supreme Court is Supreme in the judicial branch and the judicial branch is one of the three branches. It's the third branch mentioned in the Constitution." and in the Federalist Papers, "Alexander Hamiliton says explicitly, 'it will be the weakest of the three branches.'"

Newt on jobs and his Prosperity Plan.

Detroit is an example of what bad government policies can do to America.

    His plan;
  • Repeal Dodd-Frank
  • Replace EPA with Environmental Solutions Agency
  • Repeal Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • 21st Century FDA

On his campaign site, he discusses the importance of other changes including Repeal of Hellcare, the Community Redevelopment Act and breaking up Fannie and Freddie.

    His Tax Policy:
  • Not tax increases in 2013
  • 0 capital gains tax
  • 12.5% corporate tax rate
  • 100% expensing for businesses
  • Abolish death tax

On his campaign site, he also outlines his plan for entitlement, tax, balancing the budget and energy policy.

I think Newt is a brilliant ideas man. He is not my top choice for POTUS because of personal baggage and other issues, but if he is can influence the debate and teach America Constitutional principles, then I look forward to seeing him in the future debates.

    Create Wealth or Create Jobs?

    Great video from Cato Institute.

Did you know that in 2008 the regulatory costs on business was $1.75 Trillion. That's 14% of GDP. That's not including the new regulatory costs of the BO/BS administration including Hellcare, EPA and Frank-Dodd.

If BO/BS was serious about creating jobs, then here's 3 steps that he could take.

    1) Cut spending by 20%. Did you know that federal spending has increased by 30% since 2008? BO/BS has not had a budget his entire presidency.

    2) Pledge no further tax increases.

    3) Freeze all new regulations.

Don't hold your breath on him doing any of these. It is my belief that he is wrecking our economy on purpose. He pledged before the election that he was going to fundamentally transform our country. He's not done yet.

    Herman Cain Talks Founding Principles

I love Herman Cain. If Sarah Palin doesn't run, he's my top pick for POTUS.

The Palin Plan for Economic Growth

In a much anticipated speech last Saturday in Iowa, Sarah Palin laid out 5 steps for restoring America's economic strength thru free market capitalism. They are:

    1) Enforce the 10th amendment and devolve powers back to the states and local governments.

    2) Repeal ObamaCare.

    3) End the runaway debt. We must cut and prioritize. We can't afford government anymore.

    4) Drill Here, Drill Now! America is rich in natural resources. We need to reverse the policies of the BO/BS administration in restricting oil exploration, build oil refineries and oil pipelines. We also need to reverse the EPA rulings restricting coal mining.

    5) Cut the corporate income tax to 0. We have the highest federal corporate income tax in the industrialized world; higher than China and Cuba. As part of this plan, she would cut corporate subsidies and bailouts as well. That's right, no more corporate lobbyists "buying" politicians for an unfair advantage. This move would bring back jobs which in turn would produce new taxpayers. As Marco Rubio asks here: "Which tax produces jobs?"

I know my dh is tired of me starting a sentence with "This is another reason that Sarah Palin should be POTUS . ." however, her record is a blueprint for what needs to happen on a national level. She reduced spending as governor even when it wasn't necessary. She set up a rainy day fund ~what a novel thought~ and sent money back to Alaskans instead of spending it. She took on Big Oil and guess who blinked? She took on the political corruption in the Republican party in Alaska. Her administration's ACES (Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share) incentivized oil development while seeing to it that Alaskans — resource owners as per the Alaska Constitution — would receive “A CLEAR and EQUITABLE SHARE (ACES) of the value of their commonly-owned oil and gas.

She also called out the business as usual permanent political class in both parties. She places the blame of our out of control debt right at the feet of D.C. insiders. "They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed – a lot of corporate lobbyists and a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along." The elections in 2010 were only a down payment for what we must accomplish in 2012 and beyond. The permanent political class is not going to go without a fight. Like the original American Revolution, this American Restoration is not only for us, but for our kids and grandkids. Are you up for it?

    Sarah Palin is Running!

    From From Iowans4Palin
~In the Storm Lake "Jump Right In and Run" Half Marathon~
My wife is a big time walker.

She was registered to to walk in the 'Jump Right in and Run' half marathon and 5k walk here in beautiful Storm Lake, Iowa, so we had to hurry home from the big Tea Party of America rally that Governor Palin spoke at held in Indianola Iowa on Saturday.

I was still in bed at a little after 7am this morning when my wife called me in near hysterics that she had just met Todd and Sarah Palin as she was getting ready to start the event! Unbelievably... they were here in town!

What a treat after witnessing her amazing speech the day before; here she was in my hometown for a run.

Needless to say I jumped out of bed and got down by the lake in time to wait along with Todd for Sarah to finish the half marathon (she had a very good time) ...Todd said, 'yeah, she's fast."

Her reported time: 1:45...that's for 13.1 miles.

I am blown away! No one even knew who they were. Wearing visors and sunglasses, with no entourage or people around them, they just kind of blended right in.

They said they got in to town the night before and were flying out for New Hampshire today for her big speech Monday at another Tea Party event..

After speaking with them for a while I let them go sort of mingle with others, I didn't want be a pest after all, but before they left they came back over to me and my wife, thanked us again and said they were so happy to
meet us, then stood for a quick picture.

Only as they were leaving did a few people start to notice who they were. Most had no clue.

This was not a campaign event, this was some personal time for Governor Palin to get in a good run in a beautiful setting and they didn't want anyone to even know they had slipped in. Very low profile. Amazing they can pull this off.

But to the people who did recognize her, she was as gracious and friendly as one could be. You can just tell she loves people, is very sincerely interested in learning about you and what's going on in the area.

The perfect way to top off an amazing weekend.

Turns out Sarah Palin finished 2nd in her age group. Can't wait to hear her speech tonight in New Hampshire

    Where is Hell?

    H/T to Conservative Treehouse

Kevin Jackson makes some excellent points.
Questions that we need to ask:

  • Who's to blame for the substandard schools in black neighborhoods?
  • Who's shooting up black neighborhoods?
  • How is an organization that is less than 3 years old be to blame?

We have a racism problem here in Memphis that nobody is willing to talk about ~except pols like "King Willie" when they need to stir up voters to get elected or want more money or power. It's time to ask some tough questions.

How has dependence on the DemonRats and government worked out for you? It's time to look at results, not just "intentions."

It's time for patriots like Charlotte Bergmann to be heard and used as an example in black communities that the American Dream is still alive and well in the United States and dependance on the government isn't going to get it for you or your kids.

    Charlotte Bergmann for Congress

Last night I had the privilege to attend a Meet and Greet with Charlotte Bergmann. I met some wonderful fellow Patriots. Charlotte Bergmann is the Republican that ran against CongressCritter Steve Cohen last year. Seeing as TN-9 is one of the safest districts for DemonRats, it wasn't a surprise that Cohen was re-elected. Charlotte is running again next year and 2012 may be the year that shakes up Memphis politics.

As we survey the national scene, no one is happy with the economy. The oppressive leftist agenda of BO/BS and the DemonRats have crippled this economy. The black community has been especially hard hit with an unemployment rate 15.1% in July. As we look at Memphis, we're seeing the results of the truth that government isn't the solution; it's the problem. I think it's time that the truth of empowerment and conservative principles can make a dent in the voters in TN-9. Charlotte Bergmann is the person to take that message to the voters here in Memphis. She's a conservative black woman who is a small business owner herself. The bottle-neck will be in getting the message out. She'll need volunteers and financial support. She'll need outside the box thinkers. How can we educate Memphis voters who depend on government to take an honest look at the consequences of it and ask the question; "How is that working for you and your family?" We have the perfect opportunity to ask, "Which is better; a job or a check from the government?" How happy are with you your children's schools? The crime in your neighborhoods? Conservatives have the answers, we just need to get out, engage Memphis voters and educate.

Will you help? Will you be part of the solution?

Here are 5 easy ways to help get Charlotte Bergmann to D.C.

  • Go to CharlotteBergmann.com Click on the Like button on the website for her official Facebook political page. After you like her page, go to the page and look on the bottom left corner and click the Share button to share on your homepage. Ask others to like her page. Sharing once is great, but sharing often is even better.
  • On your mobile phone, open a new text message. In the phone number block, enter 72727 and in the message portion input ivote. This will be one of the tools Charlotte will use to communicate with us, her supporters.
  • Host a meet and greet with your top 10-20 friends or find someone to host events for Charlotte. You can sign up on her website.
  • Word of mouth is also an important tool. Please take every opportunity to talk about Charlotte, telling everyone that you come in contact with .... "Have you heard about Charlotte Bergmann running for Congress?" Refer to her website or text ivote to 72727. The website is the database for all to sign in, to volunteer, get information etc.
  • Most importantly, pray that we will fill key rolls quickly and find people to start investing in Charlotte and her beliefs early so we can begin reaching the public.

I'm going to actively support Charlotte Bergmann. Will you?

    Self Discipline

Today's Biblical Virtue to pray for our kids is Self-Discipline.

"Father, I pray that my children may acquire a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair."

"To receive moral instruction in skillful living, in righteousness, justice, and equity." ~Proverbs 1:3~

Wow; another one that is convicting to me as a parent. How can I pray for Self-Discipline in my children if I am not modeling it for them.

Sarah Palin Answers Real Questions from CNN

H/T to Conservatives4Palin for this great video of Sarah Palin answering questions from CNN's Don Lemon at the Iowa State Fair.

One of the reasons that I love Sarah Palin is that she is middle America. She's not afraid to take it to BO/BS. America needs to defeat BO/BS and the DemonRat's agenda in 2012 and beyond. I believe Sarah Palin has the experience and love of America to do just this.

    What is the Dems Plan?

Last weekend, CongressCritter Steve Cohen was interviewed by Neil Cavuto and 1) disputed the fact that according to the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, over 1/2 of Americans don't pay Federal Income Taxes and 2) that even if that were true, these 50% of Americans shouldn't pay any because they are poor and can't afford it like the "rich".

Apparently, I wasn't the only taxpayer that took note of Mr. Cohen's answer and he too wants to hear Mr. Cohen's plan for how he would reduced the deficit.
    From the Commercial Appeal
Kudos to U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen for his candor regarding the fairness of the tax code. When confronted by Neil Cavuto with facts showing that the rich already pay most of the taxes while half of Americans pay no income tax at all, Cohen acknowledged that fairness is not the real issue. Comparing the federal government to "bank robbers," Cohen explained that the real reason the rich are targeted is because "that's where the money is."

What Cohen fails to mention, however, is the fact that taxing only the rich will not raise enough revenue to solve our nation's debt problem. The balanced approach advocated by the Democrats will require raising taxes on families earning well below $250,000 who do not consider themselves to be rich. I therefore urge Cohen to put forth a specific, detailed deficit reduction plan so that we can see exactly whose taxes he plans to raise and by how much.

    Brian Teepe

    Cordova

In the comments, one supporter of Mr. Cohen offered up this summary of Mr. Cohen's plan.
    cpcobb writes:

"Congressman Steve Cohen supports President Obama's plan for reducing the federal deficit. In a city where so many citizens are dependent upon social security, medicare, and medicaid, Congressman Cohen has said he does not want these benefits reduced, so he is in favor of reduced defense spending, closing corporate tax loopholes, and raising taxes on those whose income is $250,000 and more -- that is, Obama's plan. Congressman Cohen is championing the Memphis Aerotropolis, a long-term development plan to boost Memphis business. Personally, I would like to see corporate tax loopholes closed but at the same time have the corporate capital gains tax rate reduced to promote business development. All things considered, Congressman Steve Cohen is the best person to represent the best interests of all Memphis citizens in the federal government."

    My answer to this was:

"Actually BO/BS doesn’t have a plan. He never put one down on paper.

    1) SS, M/C, and M/D are broke. They have to be restructured if anybody is going to be benefiting from them in the near future.

    2) BO/BS's idea to close the "loophole" for corporate jet owners would only put $3 Billion into the treasury over the next decade according to Bloomberg.

    3) You could eliminate Defense spending ~which is the main job of the federal government~ and still only reduce the deficit by 1/3.

    4) The rich don't earn enough to cover what Congress spends each year.
    From 2009 per the IRS:

    AGI over $200K = $1,964.3 B Taxes paid = $434.3 B
    AGI under $200K = $5,861.1 B Taxes paid = $431.6 B
Individual Income Taxes paid in 2009 = $865.9 Billion.

You could confiscate all incomes over $200K and NOT cover DemonRat Congressional Spending.

You could double all individual income taxes and NOT cover DemonRat Congressional Spending.

The problem is spending, pure and simple. We send enough $$ to politicians in D.C.
The National Debt has increased by $4.8 Trillion since Mr. Cohen was elected to Congress in 2006. His plan is to continue to buy votes by spending taxpayers money. Taxpayers can’t afford him anymore."

Another commenter ~New Guy~ took issue with my facts from the IRS about how much the rich could pay with this comment:

"this statement is factually incorrect in composition statistics intended to be misleading. As reported quite widely in news (including Fox) the return of rates to 2001 levels for 200k/250k people would raise $70B alone. That is a 3%-4.5% increase in their marginal rate only. I'm not suggesting it be this, but if you raised it 70%, it would be well over the deficit all by itself."

    To which I replied:

"You must have went to Memphis City Schools and flunked math. $70 Billion does not even touch this year's deficit. The deficit for 2009 was $1,400 Billion; 2010 was $1,300 Billion and it's on track to be $1,600 Billion this year. The Federal government will spend $3,800 Billion this year and borrow $1,645 Billion.
If you taxed those $200K and up at 100%, you would only get $869 Billion."

Mr. Cohen, What's Balanced about 51% of Americans that pay NO Fed Taxes?

CongressCritter Steve Cohen tries to make the case for "shared sacrifice" and is called on it by Neil Cavuto.

Since Mr. Cohen apparently doesn't know that 51% of Americans don't pay Federal Income taxes, here is the letter from the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.
In summary, for tax year 2009, approximately 22% of all tax units, including filers and non filers, will have zero income tax liability, approximately 30% will receive a refundable credit, and approximately 49% will have a positive income tax liability.

    Now granted I didn't go to Memphis City Schools, but 100 - 49 = 51.

Here's another little factoid for Mr. Cohen. There aren't enough rich to tax to cover the deficit. From the Dailymail.com From the IRS: 8,274 people with incomes of $10 million per year or more — earned a total of $240 billion in 2009. You could confiscate all their income and only run the government for 24 days. Also, individual tax collections totaled $1,175,422,000,000 in 2009. Doubling federal income taxes for everyone would still leave us $400 billion or so shy of balancing the budget.

What budget have you ever balanced, Mr. Cohen?

    Some Questions for Steve Cohen

CongressCritter Steve Cohen had an interview with Kris Anderson @WREG on Friday, August 5, 2011.

As a taxpayer, here are a few questions that I have for Steve Cohen:

  • Why have a debt ceiling if it always gets raised?
  • What's extreme about a balanced budget? 49 states have some sort of balanced budget amendments, including TN.
  • What jobs have you ever created other than government jobs?
  • You say we need more stimulus for infrastructure but only 3% of the last $787 Billion stimulus actually went to infrastructure. Why should taxpayers believe you this time?

I've posted these questions to him via his FaceBook page where he posted the link to the interview. Relying on his past history, I'm not holding my breath for answers from him.
  • The Fight I'm Waiting For

    Hat tip to Conservative TreeHouse
Palin Power Coming On Stronger by Lloyd Marcus.
Sarah Palin's latest "in your face" to the Obama administration in defense of the Tea Party is guaranteed to infuriate the left and terrify the timid on our side. Sarah said, "If we were real domestic terrorists, shoot, Obama would want to pal around with us, wouldn't he?"

    Wow! I loooooooove this woman!

Compare Palin's cojones to those of Republican presidential candidate, Jon Huntsman. Huntsman encouraged Republicans to surrender to Obama during the debt ceiling battle. Get this, folks: as a contender for the White House, Huntsman said he will not attack Obama.

How absurd is that? Huntsman's going into the ring with the Mike Tyson of politics, and his strategy is not to hit.

Compared to the John-Wayne true grit of Sarah Palin, Mr. Huntsman sounds pathetically metrosexual.

Talk about a "no surrender, no retreat" attitude! Despite a relentless and unprecedented effort to destroy her and her family, Palin is just as bold and beautiful as she was when she gave her extraordinary VP nominee acceptance speech in 2008.

I know you fearful folks on our side will flood me with e-mails about how Palin is too this or too that. Well, I am sorry, but every time this woman speaks, I feel excited. But most important, I feel empowered. After the Republicans' depressing cave on the debt ceiling, Lord knows we Tea Party patriots desperately need to feel empowered.

So many folks on our side feel they must walk on eggshells, careful not to offend the left. Palin boldly and unapologetically stands up for God, family, and country.

The left has so successfully branded traditional values embraced by most Americans extreme, many feel intimidated and fearful to stand up for them. For example, I caught a minute of a TV show called The Glee Project which is obviously targeted for youths. The show featured young couples, including two boys as a couple, sexually caressing each other while singing a song about "going all the way." The musical production number was a blatant promotion of homosexuality and promiscuity to our kids.

Call me an old fuddy-duddy, and while I realize that the TV show is on cable, I still found it a bit shocking and outrageous that such programming is considered normal.

The left appears to be calling the shots and setting the rules, culturally and politically. Advisers say we conservatives must be civil, willing to compromise and work with the other side.

I am all for civility, but it works only when both sides have honorable intentions. Civility does not work when one side, Obama and the Democrats, treats the discord as a no-holds-barred street brawl. The left views civility from their opposition as a window of opportunity to strike and land a deathblow.

Sarah Palin fully understands this reality. Palin realizes that the left will never fight fair or be honest. Pandering to the left is perceived as weakness. Thus, the only solution is to defeat them.

I still marvel at how some people on our side have bought into the Obama media's manufactured image of Palin.

While the left's destruction of her image is extremely successful on some level, Palin's "right stuff" still bursts through, casting a powerful beam of light and exhilarating millions. Palin has "it." Whatever that "it" is, this amazing woman has "it."

Can you imagine the excitement of Palin throwing her hat into the 2012 presidential ring? Move over, Thrilla in Manila (Ali/Frazier), as the most exciting fight of all time. I'm talkin' Palin vs. Obama, Mano a Mano: the Thrilla from Wasilla vs. the Chicago Thug.

Betting on this "fight of the century" could help Vegas's economy recover from Reid being their senator and Obama trashing businesses that go there.

The more I think about Palin vs. Obama in the ring, the more excited I become. Images flash in my brain. It is the long-awaited, much-anticipated day of the main event.

Palin enters the ring wearing an Old Glory-themed robe to Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless the USA (Proud to be an American)." Obama enters the ring wearing a pink robe, courtesy of Code Pink, as Al Sharpton sings "We Shall Overcome."

For fourteen rounds, Obama and Palin pound each as the upper hand changes several times. Then, round fifteen -- the final round.

Palin, exhausted from battling Obama and his tag-team partner, the liberal media, miraculously lands a knockout punch to Obama's jaw. The final bell rings. The fight is over. Sarah Palin has won the 2012 presidential election. The crowd of mostly Tea Party patriots goes crazy with jubilation. Obama's media is stunned.

Reporters flock to the rubber-legged, emotionally drained Palin. Sarah's eyes focus on her husband Todd as he pushes his way through the thronging media. Sarah fearfully yells, "Tooooooodd!" Todd yells, "Sarah!"

Finally he reaches her. They embrace. "Todd, I love you!" "I love you, too!" is Todd's reply. Our national anthem plays in the background.

    I can't wait!

Why Does the FDA Need a Swat Team?

From my fellow Patriots at Conservative TreeHouse
Breaking news: Multi-agency armed raid hits Rawesome Foods, Healthy Family Farms for selling raw milk and cheese

    Learn more:NaturalNews

A multi-agency SWAT-style armed raid was conducted this morning by helmet-wearing, gun-carrying enforcement agents from the LA County Sheriff's Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

This story is now being followed and widely reported on InfoWars (www.InfoWars.com) and the Drudge Report (www.DrudgeReport.com). See updates below...

Rawesome Foods, a private buying club offering wholesome, natural raw milk and raw cheese products (among other wholesome foods) is founded by James Stewart, a pioneer in bringing wholesome raw foods directly to consumers through a buying club. James was followed from his private residence by law enforcement, and when he entered his store, the raid was launched.

Law enforcement demanded that all customers (members) of the store vacate the premises, then they demanded to know how much cash James had at the store. When James explained the amount of cash he had at the store -- which is used to purchase product for selling there -- agents demanded to know why he had such an amount of cash and where it came from.

James was handcuffed, was never read his rights and was stuffed into an unmarked car. While agents said they would leave behind a warrant, no one has yet had any opportunity to even see if such a warrant exists or if it is a complete warrant.

Law enforcement then proceeded to destroy the inventory of the story by pouring the milk down the drain and / or confiscating raw cheese and fresh produce for destruction. Video now posted at NaturalNews.TV:

Note to NaturalNews readers: We believe this was an ILLEGAL raid being conducted mob-style by government thugs who respect no law and no rights. This is an all-out war by the government against people who try to promote healthy raw and living foods.

James is now being held at the Pacific division police department at Centinela and Culver in Los Angeles. He is being held at $123,000 bail with no possibility of using bail bonds. Law enforcement has demanded that if he comes up with the money to cover bail, he must disclose to them all the sources of that money. (This is an illegal demand!)

Massive public protests are needed to teach these criminal law enforcement agencies that they cannot illegally arrest and persecute individuals merely for buying and selling raw milk and cheese. We are organizing a public protest day in cooperation with James. Please watch NaturalNews for an announcement of that. Story is developing...

Right now, James needs help raising money with his legal defense needs. Our non-profit Consumer Wellness Center is currently serving as the collection point for donations. You may donate right now at www.ConsumerWellness.org (100% of the donations go directly to James' legal defense needs, the Consumer Wellness Center keeps nothing).

See this video of James Stewart talking about his farm:

    Story on InfoWars.com:

Here's background on Healthy Family Farms which was also targeted in the raid:

Healthy Family Farms in Santa Paula, California:

"Healthy Family Farms is a sustainable, pasture-based farming operation. We raise all our livestock on pasture. We raise all of our animals from birth. We do not feed any of our animals soy, choosing instead to feed animals as they are designed to be fed. This results in healthy, sturdy animals needing no hormones, antibiotics, or other artificial "enhancements." We harvest our animals humanely by hand before they are delivered to the farmers markets. We never freeze our products. In addition to farmer's markets sales, we have an active CSA, which offers discounts to our valued members."

Watch NaturalNews.com for more breaking news on this story. We are fed up with these illegal mob-style raids against the raw foods community! It is time to protest and fight back against tyranny!

Senator Marco Rubio asks the question. Economic Justice or Economic Opportunity? What do you believe the role of government should be?

Which Senate Dems Support Balanced Budget Amendment?

How Long has the Senate gone w/o passing a budget?
Over 2 1/2 years. BO/BS has yet to sign a budget.

    Saturday, July 30, 2011

    WTF?

Senator Rubio speaks Truth in D.C.

Thank You to Senator Jim DeMint for backing Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate when RINO Repubs were backing Charlie Crist who later turned "independent" because he couldn't win the Republican Primary.

Senator Rubio is one of the few adults in D.C.

    No More Blank Checks

Fun Fact: Congress has NOT passed a budget since BO/BS was inaugurated. How many businesses would still be in business w/o budget?

It's time to cut off D.C. Credit Card.

Join the Twitter Tea Party Rally

I don't know about you, but I can't make it to D.C. in person this weekend to let the CongressCritters in D.C. know what my position is on them borrowing more money that my kids and grand-kids will have to repay. That is why I'm joining the Twitter Tea Party Rally this Weekend. If you tweet, I encourage you to make your voice heard.

The national credit card maxed out. The DemonRats and BO/BS have added $2.9 Trillion to the national debt in 2 years ~with a projected deficit of an additional $1.65 Trillion this year~ and still haven't presented a budget for 2012; yet now they want Americans to believe that "supposedly" cutting $1.5 Trillion in the next 10 years ~hello, that's less than the deficit is this year~ while increasing taxes immediately is fiscal responsibility? History has shown that tax increases DON'T = increased tax receipts to the government. Taxpayers send enough $$$ to D.C. The problem is SPENDING. D.C.ers are spending addicts and they are shopping with our money. It's got to stop. We the people sent a huge message last November; but apparently the DemonRats didn't get the message. Let them Hear US Again; this weekend.

No New Taxes and Real Spending Cuts!

    Lame Duck President

The Left Stream Media won't tell the truth, so our next President Sarah Palin does:
After listening to the President’s press conference today, let’s keep in mind the following:

This is the same president who proposed an absurdly irresponsible budget that would increase our debt by trillions of dollars, and whose party failed to even put forward a budget in over 800 days! This is the same president who is pushing our country to the brink because of his reckless spending on things like the nearly trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle. This is the same president who ignored his own debt commission’s recommendations and demonized the voices of fiscal sanity who proposed responsible plans to reform our entitlement programs and rein in our dangerous debt trajectory. This is the same president who wanted to push through an increase in the debt ceiling that didn’t include any cuts in government spending! This is the same president who wants to slam Americans with tax hikes to cover his reckless spending, but has threatened to veto a bill proposing a balanced budget amendment. This is the same president who hasn’t put forward a responsible plan himself, but has rejected reasonable proposals that would tackle our debt. This is the same president who still refuses to understand that the American electorate rejected his big government agenda last November. As I said in Madison, Wisconsin, at the Tax Day Tea Party rally, “We don’t want it. We can’t afford it. And we are unwilling to pay for it.”

Now the President is outraged because the GOP House leadership called his bluff and ended discussions with him because they deemed him an obstruction to any real solution to the debt crisis.

He has been deemed a lame duck president. And he is angry now because he is being treated as such.

His foreign policy strategy has been described as “leading from behind.” Well, that’s his domestic policy strategy as well. Why should he be surprised that he’s been left behind in the negotiations when he’s been leading from behind on this debt crisis?

Thank you, GOP House leaders. Please don’t get wobbly on us now.

    2012 can’t come soon enough.
