An Open Letter to TN GOP

We Can Win District 9

The following is a letter from a retired Shelby County Schools Teacher:

Republicans, Independents, and Undecideds in the 9th District,

You have an extremely important decision to make beginning Friday the 13 and ending Aug 2.

You will need to select the person who will:
1. Represent your values and ideals in the US Congress.
2. Stand firm in the face of ridicule and pressure to do otherwise
3. Attract voters from both parties plus independents and undecided voters
4. Have the best chance to defeat the present incumbent.
Do not take this decision lightly. Do not vote for a candidate because you heard their name before or they are young or rich or black or white. Learn what they stand for and the experience that they will bring to the job you are hiring them for.

The facts are these:
  • We probably live in one of the most divided districts in the nation.
  • There is a long history of distrust among the various groups and factions of this community.
  • The decisions and policies in district 9 affect neighboring districts and TN in positive and negative ways.
None of these facts are news to anyone who has followed Memphis politics for any length of time.

Out of the three candidates running in the Republican Primary, I am convinced that Charlotte Bergmann is the one GOP candidate that is able to cross the dividing line between our fractured community and win this congressional seat from Steve Cohen.

She has gone into skeptical ,and occasionally hostile, groups and won supporters by the very strength of her convictions and her unshakable faith. People all across the 9th know who she is and are listening and responding. I have seen it time and time again and so have others that are working with her.

Although, sadly, our local media, TV, Radio, and Print, is ignoring all of our GOP candidates. Charlotte was able to break through the Memphis media "wall of silence" and attract support throughout the nation as a result of her racist encounter with a local talk show host early in the year. That encounter enraged the nation and filtered back (via internet) to the local community who were appalled at her treatment no matter their political views.

She has been active in local Republican politics for many years beginning in 1987 when she actively in promoted the Better Schools Program of then Gov. Lamar Alexander. In the last three years she has attended several national conservative events and is known and respected by many of the movers and shakers of the party.

Locally, she works tirelessly in many capacities to bring changes to this community through church, business, and community organizations:
Kiwanis International
Republican Women Of Purpose Member
Shelby County Republican Women Member
2008 VP Publication - PMI Memphis
National Federation of Independent Business Member
Careers in Transition - Local Community Support Group for the Unemployed
Chamber of Commerce Member

National Federation of Independence Business (NFIB) Member
Chairman of PMI Memphis Nomination Committee 2005-2006
Phi Theta Kappa HONORS Program - President
Christian Brothers University Alumni
Congressional Business Woman of the Year Award 2003 TN - awarded by Congressman Tom Reynolds, Chairman NRCC
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Lector at Incarnation Catholic Church

Lately, someone posed this question to me. "She ran against Steve Cohen last time and didn't win, what makes her think that she will this time?"

This person was ignoring or was unaware of the fact that in the time between the last congressional election in 2010 and this one, the demographics of TN9 has changed radically. This district has almost doubled in size by the addition of suburb communities to the east and north of the old 9th district.

The people living in the "New 9th" are mostly conservative, are likely voters, are paying attention. They are very responsive to Charlotte Bergman's conservative, common sense message. I know, I live there.

Even with the change in district boundaries, no Republican candidate can win in the new 9th without support from a portion of the Democratic voters in the old and new 9th district. in this election cycle, many of those same voters are disenchanted with the policies of the current leadership and are ready to go in a different direction.

Charlotte ran in the 9th district in 2010 and received over 33,000 votes in a majority democratic district. No other Republican has ever come that close in recent years.
It all boils down to this:
In this race,
At this time,

In this district,
Charlotte Bergmann has the very best chance of defeating Steve Cohen in the general election.

This election could very well be the biggest upset in the nation.

Meet Charlotte Bergmann

It is imperative that we Repeal and Replace Steve Cohen as TN-9 Congressman.  My friend Charlotte Bergmann is the only Republican candidate that can and will beat Cohen.  Charlotte Bergmann is committed to bring Liberty, Prosperity and Reconciliation to not just Memphians, but all Americans.

Repeal and Replace Steve Cohen

From the Bergmann for Congress Campaign:
Supreme Court’s Decision on ‘Obamacare’ Sets the Debate for November’s Election

Make no bones about it, the new tax foisted on Americans will kill job creation!  This tax increase is the largest tax increase in the history of the world.

Five Supreme Court Justices today decided to not impartially rule on the case – i.e. execute their solemn Constitutional charge.  They instead decided to serve as five more Affordable Care Act,
'ObamaCare' lawyers - and create a brand new argument to unconstitutionally "justify" the ObamaCare mandate.

Charlotte Bergmann, U.S. Congressional candidate for Tennessee 9th District states, “I am disappointed in the Court’s ruling today. ObamaCare will stand as a massive tax on Americans. ObamaCare will add Trillions to our national debt, deter future job growth, and force thousands of individuals out of their existing health care coverage. The choice in the upcoming election couldn’t be clearer."

“Congressman Steve Cohen voted to pass ObamaCare and continues to support it. If elected, I will vote to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with real reforms that put patients and doctors in charge, create more choices for consumers and actually drive down the cost of health care.”

Bergmann then voiced her support for the following market-oriented reforms to health care:

• Make health care expenses and health insurance 100% tax deductible for individuals

• Create more choices through market reforms, including the ability to purchase insurance across state lines

• Aggressive medical malpractice and legal tort reform

• Preserve and protect Medicare through patient-doctor choice, not government cuts that deny seniors services

ObamaCare’s negative effects on job creation and U.S. citizens.

• Starting in 2013, Medicare payroll taxes increase 0.9 percentage points for people with incomes over $200,000 ($250,000 for couples filing jointly). Also, people at this income level would pay a new 3.8 percent tax on investment income. The 10-year tax increase: $210.2 billion.

  • Starting in 2018, a new 40 percent excise tax on high-cost health plans, so-called "Cadillac plans" (over $10,200 for individuals, $27,500 for families), kicks in. That's a tax increase of $32 billion in 2018 and 2019.

• Starting in 2014, a new annual fee on health insurance providers begins. Total estimated 10-year tax increase: $60.1 billion.

• Starting in 2013, the floor on medical expense deductions on itemized income tax returns will be raised from 7.5 percent to 10 percent of income. That's estimated to be an additional tax of $15.2 billion over the next 10 years.

An unelected board of 15 bureaucrats having the ability to deny health care to senior citizens

• Violates religious conscience: 43 Catholic organizations – including the University of Notre Dame – have sued the U.S. Dept. of HHS over mandates regarding contraception that conflict with the moral teachings of those organizations.

The tax increases in the health care legislation reverses a trend of federal tax cuts and represent the first significant tax increases since 1993.  For the sake of our families, Republicans are outraged and are mobilizing for a 2010 redux...for our LIBERTY!  We have learned that Congress has no right to force us to purchase something we don't want to purchase; but Congress has a right to tax...and tax...and tax us into tyranny.  If liberty is our goal, the Supreme Court has failed its people.

As I have already stated, "If elected, I will fight inch by inch in defense of the Constitution to Repeal and Replace Obamacare."

Sincerely,

U.S. Congress Candidate

Memphis People of Faith: We need Your Help to Protect our Religious Liberty

You're invited to participate in one of the most important political gatherings in recent history in Memphis.

Fellow Patriots and People of Faith,

It is my honor to invite you to a Meet and Greet held by my good friend Dr. Bob Walker, Deacon of Incarnation Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church and other Christian denominations are becoming increasingly concerned about the current administration's outright attack on our First Amendment rights of Freedom of Religion.

Will you stand with us to protect your Freedom of Religion?

As Deacon Bob said in his letter to the Catholic Churches in Memphis "Spiritual warfare prayer and proclamation of the gospel in life and word is the first offense against evil." He proclaimed that it is our duty as Christians to "educate and form our nation in the likeness and image of Christ in liberty, freedom of religion, economics free from the sin of envy (i.e. socialism) and politics free from tyranny. Doing this involves electing Senators and Representatives who are faithful Christians and who reflect the teachings of Christ."

Please join Deacon Bob and myself, along with others in our community who wish to protect our slowly eroding rights at 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 27th at 8475 Dogwood Rd, in Germantown.  Please feel free to click here in the upper right to make your reservation.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Bergmann
Candidate for US Congress

Personal Note from TNWAHM

As a follower of Christ, I have become increasingly frustrated as our rights as Christians have been trampled on by our government.  The fact that my tax dollars goes to support the killing of pre-born children is nauseating to me.  The fact that my tax dollars are causing the destruction of families by “replacing” the father with a check from the government and enabling dependence instead of self-reliance sickens me.   As People of Faith, we must work together to make our voices known.  That goes beyond the walls of our churches and synagogues into the voting booths and city councils, school boards, state legislators and Congress.  We have the responsibility as citizens of Memphis and of the United States to preserve the God given Rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for our children and grand-children.

Partnering with Charlotte Bergmann in defeating Steve Cohen will be an effective sign to the Country that you can rebuild a city ~and a nation~ thru Liberty, Prosperity and Reconciliation; that our votes will truly reflect our values as “People of Faith”.  Come meet Charlotte Bergmann and hear her heart for her native Memphis.  Hear her story of how her faith and hard work is bringing people together to work together for the Prosperity of all of Memphis.

Even if you are not in TN-9, it is important to you that she beats Steve Cohen.  We need to send reinforcements to the Conservative Patriots in Congress that are working to bring our Country back to its Founding Principles of limited government in the Constitution.  Charlotte Bergmann will be that voice for common sense and the Constitution. You can help by donating and volunteering for her campaign.  Just go to www.New9th.com.

Charlotte Bergmann for Congress

Last night I had the privilege to attend a Meet and Greet with Charlotte Bergmann. I met some wonderful fellow Patriots. Charlotte Bergmann is the Republican that ran against CongressCritter Steve Cohen last year. Seeing as TN-9 is one of the safest districts for DemonRats, it wasn't a surprise that Cohen was re-elected. Charlotte is running again next year and 2012 may be the year that shakes up Memphis politics.

As we survey the national scene, no one is happy with the economy. The oppressive leftist agenda of BO/BS and the DemonRats have crippled this economy. The black community has been especially hard hit with an unemployment rate 15.1% in July. As we look at Memphis, we're seeing the results of the truth that government isn't the solution; it's the problem. I think it's time that the truth of empowerment and conservative principles can make a dent in the voters in TN-9. Charlotte Bergmann is the person to take that message to the voters here in Memphis. She's a conservative black woman who is a small business owner herself. The bottle-neck will be in getting the message out. She'll need volunteers and financial support. She'll need outside the box thinkers. How can we educate Memphis voters who depend on government to take an honest look at the consequences of it and ask the question; "How is that working for you and your family?" We have the perfect opportunity to ask, "Which is better; a job or a check from the government?" How happy are with you your children's schools? The crime in your neighborhoods? Conservatives have the answers, we just need to get out, engage Memphis voters and educate.

Will you help? Will you be part of the solution?

Here are 5 easy ways to help get Charlotte Bergmann to D.C.

  • Go to CharlotteBergmann.com Click on the Like button on the website for her official Facebook political page. After you like her page, go to the page and look on the bottom left corner and click the Share button to share on your homepage. Ask others to like her page. Sharing once is great, but sharing often is even better.
  • On your mobile phone, open a new text message. In the phone number block, enter 72727 and in the message portion input ivote. This will be one of the tools Charlotte will use to communicate with us, her supporters.
  • Host a meet and greet with your top 10-20 friends or find someone to host events for Charlotte. You can sign up on her website.
  • Word of mouth is also an important tool. Please take every opportunity to talk about Charlotte, telling everyone that you come in contact with .... "Have you heard about Charlotte Bergmann running for Congress?" Refer to her website or text ivote to 72727. The website is the database for all to sign in, to volunteer, get information etc.
  • Most importantly, pray that we will fill key rolls quickly and find people to start investing in Charlotte and her beliefs early so we can begin reaching the public.

I'm going to actively support Charlotte Bergmann. Will you?

    My Decision is Made

The November election is just 8 short days away. The Demonrats are pulling out all the stops in order to save their power in D.C. Hang on to your hats girls and boys, because the next few days will be bumpy.

I’m in the TN-8 Congressional district and I’ve been in a quandary about who to vote for; ~have no fear, I won’t be voting for the Demonrat, who isn’t identifying himself as such, ~ but the Mid South Tea Party is backing an independent candidate Don Janes instead of Republican Stephen Fincher. In the primary, I would back the candidate endorsed by the Tea Party, but in the general election I wasn’t so sure. I haven’t received any campaign literature and have only seen 2 signs for Janes. Over the weekend, I got into a discussion on the Mid South Tea Party Facebook page about it. They were going after the Republican Fincher about some questions with his campaign financing. I asked why Janes didn’t run in the primary and noted that he may get the Demonrat elected by splitting the conservative/Republican vote. I also linked to an excellent article by Hillbuzz about third party candidates only helping to elect Demonrats. MSTP replied with “Janes cannot win because YOU STILL TOW THE PARTY LINE...” and some comments about how the state republican party chose Fincher and co-opted 5 of the 8 Tea Parties in TN-8. They also stated that Fincher says he’s conservative, but do we really know?

I’m sure Janes is a nice person. I’m fairly certain that had he run in the Republican primary, I would have supported him, because of the backing of the Mid South Tea Party; however, I’m looking at BIG picture here. The first priority is to get the Demonrats out of power in D.C. Yes, we need to get the Cocktail Party Republicans out of D.C. also, but the way to do that is in the primary like in Delaware and Alaska.

I bet that the same people in the MSTP who are backing Janes over the Republican Fincher is upset that the moderates in the party aren’t backing Christine O'Donnell and that LeNa JaBrowski is mounting a write-in campaign because she was beaten in the primary; what they miss is that they are doing the same thing with their candidate by being purists. We have the opportunity to pick-up a seat here in TN-8. It is an open seat where the retiring CongressCritter is a Demonrat.

The Hillbuzz boyz are former Dems that see the destruction of what their party has done and are doing everything they can to elect conservative Republicans to D.C. How can we as Republicans not do the same thing for our candidates? It’s not the time to let our egos get in the way. We’ll deal with the Cocktail Party Republicans in the next few years. We must put out the fire of the Demonrats this election cycle.

What will YOU Do for November?

Here's a great post from my favorite political blog Hillbuzz.org. It's asking what I'm willing to sacrifice to help retake the country in November.

I'm in Memphis. Officially, I'm in the TN-8 congressional district, but I'm working to elect Charlotte Bergmann for TN-9 ~which is the majority of Memphis and one of the "safest" Democrat district in the country.

Here's a link to introduce you to Charlotte Bergmann.

    We Must Repeal Hellcare!

We brought my daughter home from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital yesterday after being there for 16 days. It started out as a stomach bug; she then got dehydrated. We took her to the ER where her diagnosis was Colitis. Her kidneys shut down and then it developed into HUS ~ Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome~ caused by e-coli. We were in ICU for 8 days. Her kidneys have still not kicked in so we are doing dialysis on an outpatient basis. We are praying for a full recovery.

I am terrified of what would have happened had this occurred a couple of years after the hellcare bill had been enacted. I’m not even sure that she would still be with us. The level of care and expertise that she received has been awesome. We must do everything we can to elect new congressmen and senators that will not only defund Hellcare, but repeal it.

One such patriot is Charlotte Bergmann. She is running against Pelosi lapdog Steve Cohen in the 9th Congressional district in TN. I will be doing everything I can to help her win; because when she wins, not only will the people of Memphis win, but so will all of America.

    Charlotte Wins! King Willie loses!

Great news for Memphis today. Charlotte Bergmann wins the GOP nomination for TN-9 Congressional district. Oppressive Liberal Steve Cohen beats "King" Willie in the Democrat primary. Cohen has already dismissed Charlotte as irrelevant and misguided. He refuses to debate her. How arrogant. Can't wait to see the look on his face, when he gets beat.

We need to reach out to AA moms and ask them how they like the failed schools for their kids and their neighborhoods being crime ridden. Tie the result of failed oppressive liberal policies to their day to day lives and Dem policies. We need to educate and engage Memphians. We can do this.

If the African-American community here in Memphis would think for themselves and actually learn what her beliefs are instead of just voting against her because she’s not a Democrat, they might be pleasantly surprised.

They need to ask themselves. How well has the Oppressive Liberal agenda really helped the black family?

    The Perfect Storm

There’s a perfect storm brewing in Memphis. Congressional district TN-9 is one of the safest for Dems in the country; however this year, there is more interest than usual. Steve Cohen is the 1st white congressman from TN-9 since the 70’s. He was first elected in 2006 when Harold Ford, Jr, ran for the U.S. Senate and got beat by Bob Corker. This year our illustrious former mayor “King” Willie Herenton decided to challenge Cohen in the primary. Why you ask? Because “King” Willie is a master at race politics and states that TN needs a black representative for Congress.

I caught a Herenton supporter on the Ben Ferguson radio show a few weeks ago. Ben was asking her to name an issue that Herenton would be better than Cohen. She couldn’t; although she maintained that it had nothing to do with race. Cohen is as progressive as they get. The oppressive leftist in Washington wouldn’t get a more loyal voter in Herenton than Steve Cohen.
While I am no fan of Steve Cohen, I am an even bigger opponent of “King” Willie. What he has done to the Memphis City Schools first as Superintendent and then as Mayor for 18 years is really sad. It’s time for him to retire to private life.

The good news for Memphis and the USA is a lady named Charlotte Bergmann. I have long known that there are conservative blacks in Memphis and knew that the best way to beat the Dems was by calling out the true racism in Memphis politics. As Memphians, we have the opportunity to restore not only our country, but also our city to common sense solutions that lift up all of us.

What the oppressive liberal policies have done to the black family in Memphis is heart breaking. As Christians, we are to help the widows and orphans; not make them. By trying to replace the man with a check, the government has literally raised up a generation of widows and orphans. We complain about the crime here in Memphis. What’s the root cause of it? Men not having to take responsibility for their families, kids not having a father at home. A father that truly loves them and cares for them. The most accurate indicator of whether a child will live in poverty is whether they live in a single parent home or a two parent home. We have a school system that is failing our kids. They don’t know how to read, write or add and subtract. How are we preparing them for the real world, to get a job and get out of the cycle of dependence?

We have failed the black family. We need to take back our schools and city if for no other reason than to give real hope to the children of Memphis. We don’t do this by throwing more money at the problem. Enough has been thrown at it and it’s not working. We do it by getting back to the basics. Fathers taking responsibility, not just being sperm donors. Bringing competition into our schools by giving parents the freedom to choose the best schools for their kids by providing school vouchers. Making our neighborhoods safe. I can’t imagine what it’s like to fear for my kids while they are playing in their own yard. We must back police and help them. We can’t complain that the police don’t solve our crimes if we’re not willing to help them.

    Charlotte Bergmann
is part of the solution. She believes in giving parents the freedom to choose the best schools for their children. She believes in the Constitutional right to bear arms. Criminals shouldn’t be the only ones with guns. She believes that every person is created in the image of God and will fight for those that can’t fight for themselves; even before birth. Without Life, there is no Liberty or Pursuit of Happiness. In addition, she sees the need to secure our borders and not give amnesty to criminal entrants. With unemployment so high in the black community, there are jobs that illegals take that could/would be done by Americans.

Help send Charlotte Bergmann to D.C. Vote August 5, 2010 in the Republican Primary for Charlotte Bergmann. And while you're there, Vote for Mark Luttrell for Shelby Co mayor.

“King” Willie is right. Memphis needs a black congressman; but it’s not him.
