EBeauti Tip: How to Properly Apply Lip Liner

Are you applying your lip liner properly?  Here's how:

1.   Always make certain that your BC Color Lip Perfecting Pencil is the right shade for you. Not sure which shades look best on you? Take our eBeauti Color quiz and our BeautiPrint will help you to determine you best matches.
2.   Smile with your lips pressed together. Start lining in the center of the bottom of the lower lip. Then using light, feathery strokes, work your way down from each corner to connect the line.
3.   Do the top lip in the same way: adding a “V” shaped line on your cupid’s bow, then joining it with lines from each corner.
4.   Finish with light, feminine BC Color Hydrating Lip Color, dabbing the color on as you go from the tube or with a brush.
5.   Top with BC Color Moisturizing Lip Gloss for a little shine.

What's Really Going on with the Shelby County Election Commission?

One has to wonder what is the motivation behind why Shelby County Election Commissioners Norma Lester and George Monger are putting on a show in getting rid of administrator Richard Holden.  From the WMC-TV website:
Embattled Shelby County Election Commission administrator Richard Holden gets to keep his job.
This comes after a brutal attack from Democratic commissioners who repeatedly questioned Holden's leadership over his staff.  The commission's three Republicans voted to keep Holden.

Last August, my interest was piqued when I had questions about the Primary.  Upon further investigations, I discovered several irregularities in the filing of the candidates petitions to be on the Primary ballot for the TN-9 Congressional seat.  Here are more details on what I found.  I personally met with Ms. Lester on 9/11/2012 at the Shelby County Election Commission offices and we discovered that two of the voter signatures that Holden approved on George Flinn's petition were invalid.  Ms. Lester excused them as "mistakes" without any investigation into whether Mr. Holden actually did his job and checked George Flinn's nominating petition or just signed his name to it

After the events of today, I wonder if Ms. Lester and Mr. Monger really want to get rid of Mr. Holden or whether they want to keep him on so that they can blame the Republicans for the continual mess-ups in the Shelby County Elections.

Well, Ms. Lester and Mr. Monger; enquiringly minds want to know.  Why didn't you launch an investigation on Mr. Holden's actions back in April 2012?  I handed you evidence of wrong doing on Mr. Holden's part, but you did nothing with it

Don't think that I'm excusing the Republican on the Commission.  They were in CYA mode about the whole thing.  They are a microcosm of what is wrong with the establishment of the Republican Party; they don't want to do what is right, just what will give them power.  The interaction that I had with Dee Nollner and Robert Meyers left much to be desired  They weren't interested in finding out the truth either, in fact, Ms. Nollner was more interested in smearing me than in answering my questions.

Elections are vital to our Republic; we need to hold our election officials accountable.  The Shelby County Election Commission needs an overhaul.

Update #1:  I was looking for the Commission Minutes from the September 19, 2012 meeting where they put Holden on probation.  Couldn't find them.

Update #2:  The Shelby County Election Commission Meeting minutes from their September 19, 2012 meetings were finally approved and posted after five months.  The regular minutes are there where they admit that I was right, but that they didn't care, but the Minutes from the meeting where they put Holden on probation haven't been posted.  According to this tweet from Commissioner Monger, the September 19, 2012 minutes were held up because Commissioner Nollner wanted Commissioner Lester to falsify the minutes.

Kissable Lips for your Sweetheart!

From our BeautiCoach, Gary Jones; VP of Marketing and Research Development at BeautiControl:

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and BeautiControl has everything you need to make it a day you won't soon forget.
The mere mention of this special day stir images of flowers, hearts and lots of kisses.  To keep that pucker in kissable condition, BeautiControl has a variety of products that are "must-haves" for Valentine's Day...or any day for that matter.

Step 1:  Exfoliate

BeautiControl's award-winning Lip Apeel has become a standard in lip treatments.  This unique dual purpose product offers two products in one.  The lip masque, is a cream based mask that exfoliates the delicate skin on the lips to remove dead skin, slough away lipstick residue and prepare your lips to receive hydration.  Simply allow the masque to dry, then gently rub with your fingers or a warm cloth/tissue to reveal fresh, younger looking lips.

Step 2:  Moisturize

In the upper compartment of the Lip Apeel jar is, what Allure magazine and Shecky's has declared to be the Best of the Best when it comes to lip balms.  Apply after removing your lip masque.  This is great as a night-time treatment or any time you need added moisture

Step 3:  Plump

Both our Regeneration Tight Firm and Fill Extreme Lip Treatment, as well as our BC Color Moisturizing Lip Gloss contains ingredients that help create the optimal environment for the skin to produce hyaluronic acid and collagen to give the lips more volume and fullness

Step 4:  Color

Whether you prefer a lipstick or a lip gloss, BeautiControl has what you need.  With a variety of shades to choose from, you can go from work to WOW in a matter of seconds.

Kiss Me Set
Here's the perfect set that will give you Kissable Lips for your Sweetheart.
  • Lip Apeel to exfoliate and soften lips
  • Extreme Lip Treatment to plump and seal in moisture
  • Truffle Lip Balm for a sweet kiss of color

Shelby County Preliminary Budget

I attended the Shelby County Unified School Preliminary Budget Presentation for the community on February 5, 2013.  My initial reactions were that it was a packed house; of course no one wants their funding cut; custodial staff doesn't want to be outsourced; teachers don't want their support staff cut either. Sounds like the big cuts are to the optional schools and programs. Before doing the research, just wondering why they would cut the best part of the MCS programs. They want to increase funding for Pre-K. Only one person brought up the pension funding and pointed out that since only 25% of MCS graduate from college, maybe expanding their vocation school programs would be more of a benefit to more kids. I got tired of the term "world class education" very quickly. I think some marketing group got paid way too much money for that slogan. As one of my friends said, it's going to get very ugly, very quickly.

Here are the documents that were discussed last evening.  There is the working budget and the presentation to the community last night.

After looking at the working docs and presentation from last night, these are some of my questions:  I will be emailing them to each of the school board members.  As I find out the answers ~either from the school board member or my own research~, I will post them.  If there are any questions that you have, please post.  I will do my best to get the answers.

  • Why are we funding Pre-schools?
  • What is the loss of MDP officers?  Will the Shelby Co Sheriff's office do what the MDP officers did?
  • Why specifically has overall enrollment declined?  Are these declining numbers from MCS or SCS?  Why are parents choosing private, charter, option and home-schooling instead of enrolling their children in MCS or SCS.  Why are parents moving to North Mississippi, Fayette and Tipton Counties?
  • What are ASD schools?
  • Why are more parents choosing Charter schools?
  • Why are more parents choosing Optional schools?
  • Wouldn’t it be better for the kids to have more Optional schools where parents could choose what school their child goes to?
  • What is the CLUE program?
  • What is the CAPA program?
  • What is the projected per student cost for 2013 - 2014?
  • What was the per student cost in SCS?
  • What was the per student cost in MCS?
  • Much of the input last night ~Feb 5, 2013~ was from Optional school teachers, parents and students who didn’t want funding for Clue, CAPA, and Optional programs cut.  Where are those cuts outlined in the budget?  I see where Music, Art and PE are cut in elementary, but I don’t see where the other cuts they were talking about are.
  • What does the term “Elementary MAP” on the Description of Staff Model slide #24?
I think as parents, citizens and taxpayers of Shelby County, we are due some answers.  I believe that the reason that the MCS surrendered their charter was because they weren't getting the job done with the amount of money that they were given, so to get more money, they wanted to force a merger with the more successful Shelby County Schools.   Since the courts have shut down the municipality schools for the 2013 - 2014 school year, I think it's imperative that all of us in Shelby County get involved and help the School Board find some common sense solutions.  We know how to balance our home and business budgets, we should be able to help the School Board stretch every dollar that they receive from us taxpayers.

Update:  I did find this link concerning Choice Transfers.  What I'd like to know is how common are they and what criteria do they really use to approve Transfers?.

Skin S.P.A. Tip: Combat Dry Winter Skin

Cold weather combined with central heating and tight fitting shoes can lead to dry and cracked feet.

The first step in getting rid of dried skin is to use a pumice or scrub.  Exfoliation helps your moisturizer  sink in faster and deeper.  Next, moisturizing is key.  Using a creme is better than lotion.  Applying moisturizer  within three minutes of bathing will lock in the moisture.

Three Steps to Beautiful Feet

  1. Start with BC Spa Pedicure Foot SprayMist on your skin to moisturize, soothe and exfoliate in one quick step. Savor the peppermint scent and invigorating feel.
  2. Next, BC Spa Pedicure Instant Pedicure Scrub really helps to sledge off dry, dead skin and reinvigorate your feet.  Luxurious natural butters are combined with  volcanic pumice to smooth and soften your skin.
  3.  Finish with either BC Spa Pedicure Cooling Foot Salve or BC Spa Pedicure Intensive Foot Salve.  Both are infused with peppermint oil and nourish and protect your feet.  The Intensive Foot Slave has more intensive moisturizers for feet that need more.

The BC Spa Pedicure Collection has clinical strength ingredients with invigorating peppermint, natural minerals and emollients to help moisturize and protect your tootsies!  For best results, I like to do these step at night and then lock in the moisture with my spa socks while I sleep.
